Two questions (one involing a microwave!)

Ok so its coming time to harvest soon

Question 1
The babes are still a week or two away from when i want to harvest them but i was wonderung if anyone here ever heard of taking a small piece of bud off and popping it into the microwave for a few seconds. then smoking it. Is this possible/ a good idea if i just wanna pre-try some budds?

Question 2
I think i will be doing some Sea of green method harvesting. hmmmm this is actually a two part question of a larger question, so i guess people could consider that i am asking 3 question...EKK!
the one week of pure water flushing before harvest presents me with a conundrum. Is this necessary? Because i plan on doing a sea of green i really don't want to take me plant off of the nutes. would not flushing with pure water make that much of a difference or worse yet, is leaving those nutes in the plant dangerous to me health?
The second part of my question is for cutting on the top of the plant. Is there a good way to be chopping off these branches or just using some scissors to chop it off ok?

maybe if you turn your microwave on like power setting 1. i've never tried it, doesnt sound like a good idea.

No, you dont have to flush, your bud will not taste as good though, and it's best just to stop giving nutes and give it regular water. dont flush it in the tub with thousands of gallons.

and scissors are good.

answer 1/ just wait and be patient..putting in micro should only be used in extreme measures. it might give you a headache too

answer2/ you flush to get all the nutrients out..so the bud doesn't taste like them when you smoke..you should flush, especially if you used a bunch of nutes

-are you asking about chopping it down when you harvest or topping??

this is an extreme situation that may cause for extreme microwave measures :D

and i am talking about chopping for sea of green, where i just cut the top buds/huge one off and let those little ones that don't recieve much light get more

taste is the only side effect of not flushing?

def cut the top cola's off if the trichomes look ready..i would leave the lower buds on longer for sure if they can use more time

i don't think that not flushing will get you sick or anything, but don't hold me to that i guess

i nuke buds all the time in the microwave in times of "need". it certainly isnt the best way....but it works. i do a minute to a minute and a half but in 15 second batches and open the door and fan out the moist air in between. microwaves just heat by vibrating water molecules....be gentle and dry your buds out carefully and it works reasonably well.

if it's too early in flowering then its just a waste..and curing normally is a lot better, but in times of need... :)

the tops are def about ready (within a week) to be harvested

im gonna head to radio shack and get a microscope (the 10$ one) soon so i can check the trichromes

thanks for the micro advice, it isnt a time of need but it is a celebration and nothing would be better than starting the celebration off with a bowl of our first grow
how do you tell when they are done after nuking them (i am only doing a bowl size remeber, the rest are going to be cured properly)

dry it on ya ballast,,,,put it in a brown envelope,leave the envelope i little open so the moisture can escape then put it on ya ballast!check on it every 10mins and take it out each time so it can cool down abit,just keep doing that till ts as dry as you want...peace

never heard of that..does it work pretty good??

a ballast is used when using high wattage lighting...you use the ballast to make sure there is constant current to the light and not constant voltage--all making it safe so you don't burn your house down

Microwave is bad idea any temps about 100 will definatly degrade and break down the thc in seconds so you loose the high you would get..You have your terms screwed up.Sea of green is a growing method not a harvest method. Your refering to stage harvesting which I also do. You take the bigger buds up top and trim away and dead fans an open the plants lower area to more light to let the little popcorn nugs fillin for another 2-3 weeks.A ballast is what give you light unless your using some cheap cfls then the ballast is built in..Dont rush dry buds its just dumb to wait months then not wait 7 more days to dry it

Okay heres what I got to tell ya.

The best quick dry method ive used is placing the bud directly in front of a fan . It should be dry in less than a day. I hope you can atleast wait half a day for it to dry in front of a fan. Microwaving will destroy the bud and it wont burn right.

Theres many reasons why you flush it REALLY improves the taste, makes the bud burn better and more evenly, makes it A LOT less harsh, Removes that headachiness you get from poorly flushed bud, and it makes trimming easier.

Please Flush, those fertilizers dont make a difference the last week or two anyways, your plant has PLENTY of starches and sugars stored up inside of itself. You want to get rid of these sugars and starches they are bad for you.

PLEASE FLUSH

yes i always presample my goods ,, but never use a microwave ,, instead take a lil bud off & set it under an incadecent light ,, like a 60 watt or 100 watt household light ... set the bud about 1 inch away from it for 2 or 3 minutes & then check it ,, if still moist put back under light until dry ,, usually takes me anywhere from 5 to 8 minutes

just as bad as a microwave. thc is destroyed by heat and light hence the reason we dry buds in a cool dry dark place.
