Two strains (not plants) have hermied on me

i have 13 strains, some of which always hermy a little, some of which never hermy on me at all.

recently, i have noticed my god bud and black domina strains hermy more and more. at first i was in denial, since they were two of my best strains. i told myself that they were just heat stressed, or that they got cross pollinated.

but i just pulled a batch of 5 (3 god bud and 2 black domina), and i was just disgusted with how many seeds were there. they all looked great with no signs of hermying, too. i almost wanted to just throw the things away.

what in the fuck is going on here? the only guess i can register is that something happened down the line, as these gals have been cloned and re-cloned for about two years now. i have other strains that are almost 4 years old now, all from clones, which do not hermy (although i can notice some deterioration of bud quality).

i'm just glad i caught this before i planted them in the greenhouse this summer. but i am still curious to see if anyone has experienced anything like this.

Maybe you are running them too long with too high of N levels? I had some Grape God go hermie, and I should have cut it earlier than I did. I THINK too much N, and too long contributed. Grape god is god budx grapefruit.

IDK weed is an annual, it should go through a senescence period. Its supposed to die. I think when people start fucking with the amount of N, etc it makes the plant start second guessing what it is doing and it starts doing weird stuff. That is just my opinion, and observations. My plants seem to be better when they are allowed to die a bit before they are chopped. Not really a flushing, but it does use up a lot of the chlorophyll, etc.

the ones i just cut down were slightly premature, so i'm pretty sure that's not it in my case. my strains that tend to hermy only do so when i run them too long though, so i see where you're coming from.

and it could be high N, although i haven't changed anything on the nute end of things for a while. i have planted into roots organic for over a year, and used FFOF before that. the plants have been awfully green lately though, so who knows.

maybe i'll try putting a couple in hempy and using little or no N to see what happens.

I'm not real familiar with organics, or soil. Are you running organic? How many weeks of flowering were you running them that you consider them premature? Just wondering. hahaha bud can be so frustrating.

if this is the worst of my frustrations, i thank Dog for giving me a great life. :eyesmoke:

yes, i run pretty much organic. i veg in roots organic, and i use the FF nutrient line (very sparingly) in veg (grow for the N and tiger for the micros). a little bit of cal mag is always mixed in. goddamn cal mag.

in flower, it is all "organic" (that word is used loosely). i transplant into roots organic (cut with perlite or green lite), and i nute once (about halfway through) with FF bloom. FF's bloom nutrient is "organic", unlike their others.

and although i do not track days, the BD seems like a 45-50 day finisher, the god bud is 50-55 days.*

i run this same loose routine with all my other strains and have never seen such rapid deterioration of stability. on the plus side, i can't wait to plant some of these great looking seeds, maybe one of them is a pure female mix of god x BD. hope springs eternal.

Maybe it's time to Clean Up and start looking for a new momma?
you practice odd capitalization techniques. that's so cool. mAyBe We CoUlD bE FrIeNdS?

but yes, i will probably just get some new cuts or beans, as these are two of my favorite strains.

Kinda dumb to get on others for grammar when you yourself don't practice "proper capitalization techniques", hmm?

LOL! I just put emphasis on CURTAIN words so they POP out is all.

I find myself speaking from a 3rd person perspective at times too... :) I hope you find a remedy.

interesting. it may have to do with the repeated cloning. im no expert on genetics tho, so im not sure. but i do find strains with high percentage landrace genes hermy more often. no clue as to why the god buds are hermying more. kinda strange.
