Two strains - One sure thing/One Holy Mary??

I'm trying to decide about next year outdoor.. I live ~42°N in the great lakes basin (SW Ontario)..
This year as of now there has been no frost that I've seen, but my dad says he's seen a couple light frosts in the last week..
It can be a pretty brutally damp area though,, Basically come fall around here you get either overcast/dank, or clear with sunny days, and frighteningly chilly nights..
A frost almanac for the region states that there is only a 10% chance that frost will hit after May 9, or before Oct 8 (today actually)..
My goal is to pick 2 strains.. One that has as good a chance as any to finish totally with a decent yield, and another more chronic gamble.. For the gamble I really doubt I could hope to pull out a strain thats quoted as later than mid october, but I dunno and thats why I'm asking..
My thoughts so far have been mango, ata tundra, haley's comet, or something purple perhaps.. I'm looking into some lesser known Canadian breeders for the fast finish.. Possibly a Texada derivitive could be a good option..
As for strains that are making my mouth water.. Red Diesel from BF sounds sweet.. Alaskan Ice, a good strong AK perhaps, and I KNOW I love a good pure SK1.. (On the skunk1 note, are Seedsman's a good choice for lime-green sativa bud shaped homogeneity?
Nobody can really complain about widow etc either I suppose.. Any experience appreciated..
Lastly, has anybody had any experience with 'Petrolia Headstash'?? I know ppl from Petrolia, and it would be hilarious to toss them some of those..

I figured that would OBVIOUSLY be doable, but I really don't know anything credible about it.. I've probably had MP in bag weed, but I don't know.. Can you describe your results on smoke/yield/finish/homogeneity?

the chemo gives nice tight nuggets even at 6 weeks,it isnt the best taseting but the high is more body, but a strong long high none the less, but it is better then middies.manitoba poisan or anything like that like the texaria i cant spell can handle a few frosts, they were planted as clones when the temperature still hit 4 degrees,it is still going but last week we picked a few and the high was unexpected for this region and how cold the nights get,it was better then average.both strains were picked for growing 5 feet are lessY(you know hikers).

"Hiking" around here is a euphemism for hunting/stealing ppl's gardens..
I am big on flavor though, thats my dilemma with early finishers from Canada I know I've seen..
