tying down top at week 5 of flower

I have a plant in week 5 of flower, this plant is not topped, but grown in it's natural shape, the bottom third of the branches have been pruned. I am experiencing some light stress on the leaves around the top, main cola. I have already tied the side branches down because the tops of those were getting light burnt as well. I am thinking about tying the top cola down to even out the canopy. Is it too late to do this?

Yep ... stalk would not have much give and stressing it prior to going into later Flower wouldn’t help .....

however ..... IMO you can try rolling stalk with thumb and pointer finger ( light squeezing ) to “ soften “ it and let it “ flop “ .
or a simple twine to gently pull to a side slightly.

Since this website shitcanned all of my journals , I can’t show you a pic of what I mean. :finger::cuss:( such bullshit )

by squeezing you mean of like you do when supercropping?

I may just spread the top cola apart and bend the individual buds down
As someone who is going for a future grow, I'd like to know if this method helped with the light stress on the top cola? What did you do if that was the method? Got any pics?

I was able to raise the light up about 2 more inches and it seems like it is going to be enough to relieve some of the light stress, at least enough to keep the top bud from bleaching. Some of the burnt leaves are generating new tissue. Not much to see with a picture, just tied the side branches down to the top of the container with some wire. It's not a problem of the buds getting bleached out, it is more so the leaf tissue is getting burnt under the hot spots that the sides of the open reflector are creating. In a 3x3x7 tent 19 inches is not a high enough height to hang a 600 watt HPS with an open reflector, 24 + inches seems more appropriate. The best advice I can give you is to do some low stress training or to top your plant to create a lower canopy to avoid a similar issue.

You should invest in a sealed hood. That way you can get the light closer. I run a 600 watt HPS and I can get the light under a foot from the plants without any issues.

But you can supercrop for immediate relief if needed.
