Uh oh, it's a male

Ok, so I managed to turn my first plant from chump to champ, it took a lot of work, but this thing's a beauty now imo.

Unfortunately tho, after a lil while into 12/12, I noticed the first pre-flowers, and none are tear drop shaped... only little tiny balls, so I'm thinking it's male. I really don't wanna waste all this hard work I've done on the plant for just a male, so I wanna ask 2 things.

1) If I see the balls now on the plant, is there a chance that the female parts will show up later if it's a hermie? Cause I heard that females develop later than males.

2) If i introduce my plant to some light while it's deep into the 12 dark part of the plant, can I shock it into turning hermie? I ask because this is my last seed, and I'm a lil sketchy right now about ordering from nirvana seeds.

If anyone could help answer those questions, and maybe provide some feedback as to how safe nirvana seeds are shipping wise, that would be awesome.

Sorry man, looks like your going to have to cut it down and start from scratch.... Typically hemies are the result from female plants trying to save the species by developing pollen sacs and that male lacks the ability....

i ordered fem short riders from Nirvana n they came in good condition.. took bout a week, not bad from the Netherlands.. sry to hear bout ur plant, i feel the same.. all that work for a fuckin male, whatta shame that is.. gluck

yeah man-your male wont be turning hermie.but dont waste any nutes do it.if you want you can still cutivate it further.my first grow just ended up that way that i got a male, but later that male was in the end bigger than me and i got a lot of good leaf smoke(lot of leaf and some bud joints together---goood times )i say if you have nothing else right know then give that male a chance.

so shocking it won't do anything.... great. well i've been mass texting my phonebook looking for seeds, still too sketched out by ordering 'em online. So.... what can I use w/ a male plant.

I'm assuming I can still use the leaves to make Green Dragon (vodka w/ leaves in it). But what else? Stems for tea? man this sucks. I was hoping that even if it didn't turn out hermie i could clone it, and try to hermie the clone, but I guess that's not possible..... man, months down the drain. the things bigger than my head, I was looking for some good smoke at the end of july/ beginning of august.

Can I still use the male to make hash?!

ok, another question.

Males usually show later than females right? So in theory... If the plant is a hermie.... wouldn't the male parts show sooner than the female parts?

I'm hoping for that and that I might be seeing the signs wrong... as the lil "balls" are not really balls at all. Cause right now, there's only one, and it's very very miniscule, and it's far up. The rest of them, where they're at look like lil tear drop shapes. Once the pre-flowers show, how long until the lil hairs come out if it's female. Again, thanks for your time... and hopefully my next grow won't turn out so disappointing.

I'd show pics but the only thing I have is my LG Vu and I don't think that can show up close enough pics for you guys to be able to see.... I'll try in the morning when it's time for this evil lil plant to see the light.

good news and bad news. Bad news first. 1) I've triple posted in my forum and probably are making people think I'm over obsessive and crazy. 2) I seem to be over obsessive and crazy because on top of my daily 1-2hr researching of plant strains, growing methods, light setups, blah blah blah, I've been spending about 3hrs now researching sexing of pot plants...

Now for the good news. My paranoia is just that. The preflowers are so freaking tiny right now, it's impossible to tell exactly what they are. In the past week I thought I've seen pre-flowers that just ended up being new growth. This time around however I know they're preflowers... just way too tiny to come close to telling. That lil "ball" is ..... about the size of a tiny tiny gnat. I had to get a paper clip just to point it out to a friend, and the paper clip is thicker in diameter than any of the pre-flowers...

So nobody panic, let's all take a bong rip, and I can rest in peace.... for the next week atleast. Still gonna shock the lil bastard's light cycle a bit tho to ensure atleast a hermie. I'd rather have that than a female on my first run anyways. I would enjoy a nice supply of seeds.

you know you dont have to order some chronic seeds. ive seen some amazing looking bagseed i know there is some mid grade or something around there you can find some seeds in.

well, i already started a new topic, but i'll just end this one in case people are still looking. After noticing a male plant for 6 complete nodes, i shocked the hell out of it's photoperiod. every hour for 15min i would give it either darkness or light based on what it was supposed to be in (so in the dark, 15min light every hour), and i noticed last night the top 2 nodes having pistils all over. those little white hairs were a dead give away! at first i thought some hair had fallen on it, but nope. so if male, shock the photoperiod, and hope for the best, you can atleast turn ur time and effort into a hermie for seeds, or harvest the pollen and let the top be female.
