spraying with water, sugar water, throw some orange peels in a bag of decent smoke = "orange kush". been puttin up with all that for years here. has been going on and will continue as long as marijuana is an "illegal drug" with a huge niche in the black market. just like cut down coke, fake coke: there are even legal companies that make millions off of fake weed. the only people here that can get real good smoke are the rich high school kids, and i got too old to deal with them, so been puttin up with the market and its bullshit for years. finally got to the point that my wife is fine with an indoor grow op. sorry for the rant bro., just pisses me off. check out drchronic.com's lowlife seeds (lowryder crosses), he also carries the orig. lowryders, 8-10wks from seed to harvest. sounds interesting eh?

cause they want him to have a copious quantity of quality smoke, in the shortest time. autoflowering strains are known for their low yield/potency. the reason i recommend it is cause i am in the same situation and ordering mine (auto and reg) this weekend. buying some reg. seeds, but also getting an auto. to have something of my own to smoke asap. i say take these guys advice about the top44 if alot of people are recommending, its supposed to be good stuff, but consider and auto. no matter how low quality/quantity, id rather hear of you smoking something natural rather than bud with "crusty" additives, at least until the big girls finish.

Thankfully, from what I know the really bad crusty and grit weed is starting to fizzle out in the UK. As is the cannabis market in general.
Thankfully I came up with a crop, though I did the complete opposite of what I said and ended up growing some Super Silver and some Nebula. I went from wanting a quick crop to growing haze, lol... sounds like me.
Thankfully I've got some LR2 samples from the good Doc Zoidberg to try after these finish, so I can still have a dabble with autoflowerers.
I must say the Nebula is some crystally shit! Unfortunately some of the bottom buds Ive tried have gone to seed very slightly. Tiny, soft, immature seeds here and there- some only a pin head in size. Not sure if I pushed flowering too long, had light leaks, a trace of male pollen somewhere or just that they were feminised seeds.
I've cropped bottom branches now as tops are still flowering all over the place. Really fat, pointy calyxs.
Anyhow, here's some pics... There's some Super silver in there too... another 2 weeks at least for them. Remember im mainly an outdoor grower!

...I know this thread is a little old, but I just thought I'd chip in with what i know about the dealing side of things in the UK (which is a fair bit actually... not so much about the growing side of things though... yet anyway!)
Most of this gritweed is being grown by the vietnamese/chinese groups operating in the UK... which so happens to be the types of gangs also involved in other crimes such as people-trafficking, forced labour/prostitution, etc.... which might give you an idea as to how little they care about people's health and well-being generally.
They tend to rent houses for short-term periods, turning the whole property into growing factories (examples of which you may have seen in the news). UK police have started to crack down on them, scanning whole streets using heat-sensitive cameras to detect anomalies that would indicate large-scale growing. The main guys never get caught though, as usually the only occupant is a teenage illegal immigrant kept in to babysit the plants, who couldn't finger the main guy even if he tried.
And the contaminated weed is still just as much in circulation, however they have moved on to different methods of adding weight now, past the initial scam of spraying glass etching solution (i.e the rock hard type of weed) to a whole palette of different contaminants. Some of this weed being offered now can even pass the look/feel test fairly easily... though your nostrils are still a damn good way of passing final judgement imo!
Anyhow, these operations routinely get shut down, thus increasing the demand/price for weed. Alternative sources of good weed are hard to come by too as very few dealers can compete with the quantity of gritweed being grown/sold... you'll find a lot of dealers selling gritweed but keeping a pursey of proper weed to smoke themselves. And if you add this to Gordon Brown's retarded near-zero-tolerance policy to cannabis, you get a pretty solid picture of why things are pretty shit for UK smokers these days...
Anyway, I'll quit ranting/rambling now.... suffice to say, I want the 90's back!
