any reason?
The are just designed to pull rather than push air. It is the same as hooking it up to a carbon filter.

I believe (but might be mistaken) that the pulling keeps equalized pressure going through the system and draws the air out. I'm not trying to come across as Mr.expert by any stretch, but this is the way 90% of people I know run it with success.

As I mentioned above, 2 fans are ideal. But this way works.

thank you I see what you're saying how would this set up work

inline fan sucking air out of higher up area in room directly connected to cool tube then other end of cooltube connected to duct and then blown out exhaust (then i have a passive intake in the main grow room opposite side of exhaust) would this work?

Basically fan>cooltube>duct>exhaust
and then a passive intake in grow room
so essentially this will suck in hot stale air from grow room then blow it over hps lamp and through duct on other side of tube and out exhaust on other side of room

Not exactly but close.

I took a.picture of my exhaust for you to visualize. The fan is always the last in the chain. I don't run aN air cooled hood, but the set up wouldn't be much different. As I said before, carbon filter is a must imo. That would be the first in the "chain". Then you would have some flexible ducting connecting the filter to the cool tube. On the other side of the cool tube another piece of flexible ducting. That connects to your fan. On the other end of the fan you have more ducting (mine goes directly to outside). The fan doesn't need to move ever, just adjust the height of the light when needed.

The picture of all the plants was one I tried to show you my intakes. I run my fan at a speed that creates almoat a.negative pressure in the room to get the airflow kicking. But exhaust at the top, intake on the bottom.

Just make.sure you can control environment outside the cabinet. My room has naturally great Temps but is humid as anything, so my dehumidifier runs 24/7 to adjust the climate inside the cabinet.

Hope that makes sense

Here's some diagrams on how to set things up

Yeah I'm basically gonna run just the second half of the bottom diagram. I only have 1 fan and 1 duct atm so I'm gonna have fan high up in room sucking hot air out of room and blowing it over the light's "cool tube" to blow the room's hot air and the lights hot air out an air duct leading to an exhaust.. i have a hole in the wall on opposite side of grow room exhaust for passive intake.. this will work correct?

I drew up a basic but pretty shitty diagram of my grow room / closet.. bear with me as i guide you through the not so obvious color key...
so basically

Green circle= Exhaust fan
red lines= hot air
blue triangle= passive cool air intake
grey rectangle=cool tube for grow light
yellow oval= grow light
yellow lines= light.. lol im stoned
purple rectangle=duct option 1
pink lines coming off purple rectange= option 2 of ducting
brown triangle= exhaust
So essentially will this work?
As a reference point of scale of room..(closet) it's a pretty long closet lol..
top left end of black line all the way to top right end of black line is about 17 ish ft.

and note that the "exhaust fan" is sucking air out of room and blowing it through and out the duct.. also across the cooltube and bulb.. is this okay.. room will never be that hot with this ventilation set up (never higher than 80 degrees) so air across cool tube won't be even hot really correct? this will work and be okay? plz reassure me lol
Plz help! and would you go with ducting option 1 or 2? (purple or pink lines)

Yea you got it right bro that's how I have mines hooked up. My temps would be better but I don't have any fans in my closet so it's really not ideal but it's good enough. I'll have things better after I finish this Blue Dream run

word i feel you man. glad to hear i got right idea. my temps are still gonna be difficult to deal with since my exhaust is just gonna blow air into my bedroom lmao. i have an AC unit conveniently in my room tho so it'll just be havin to pump out more AC to keep my room at 74-76 ish lmao.. gonna be funny using the AC "inconspicuously" in the winter tho lol. I also got a sweet quiet oscillating fan to add in there for the veg room today which was cool.

OH and i got my last order in for the last bit of supplies i'll need (the ducting and shit lol) so that'll be here in 2 days.. im hype! my beans should be here by this friday too so things are lookin like they're about to get fun (:

Yea it's not the best but long as you have cool air in there with the ac and can you should be ok. A carbon filter up in the high part of the room attached to the fan would really help with exhausting the heat too.

Glad everything is coming in order. It won't be long before your up in running. What beans did you order?

Yeah wish I could afford one right now but I won't be able to for a little while so I'm only working with small little carbon filter squares lol.. definitely will obtain one eventually tho. beans are northern lights from the nirvanashop :) and yeah im super excited!
