Ultra Stealth DIY Basement Room

Or add to it. I'm going to conseal the door the best I can and in doing so I'll take care of any sound issues.

You'll see my idea. It'll all be gravy. I thought that since I was going to do this whether it was hollow or solid I might as well save the $40. :)

Feel free to detail what you plan before you execute. Easier than re-doing something. The basics of sound proofing are well understood scientifically. The problem is the forums some folks use to get ideas to derive their plan.

I've got a couple ideas. Both of which are my own. Once the walls are built I'll be able to see which direction I want to go.

The outside door that is. The flower area door only needs to block light.

Materials will be delivered tomorrow and hopefully I can put a few hours into it every night. The problem is this is basically an entire basement remodel. So work for the grow area isn't my first priority. However I'll need to frame in some of the grow space before I can frame in the stair wall and the bookcases. I'm going with very simple bookcases that basically fit between the studs. So I'm building a simple wall and putting the bookcases in after the fact. Literally making boxes out of plywood and mounting them between the studs. That saved me almost five inches in grow area length.

FYI there's nothing to report. I've been too busy to start framing. And my car didn't sell over the weekend as planned.

I will say though that after doing some heavy reading and watching his videos, growMaus may have swayed me into doing a COB DIY...

The cost up front is a bit steep but man do the designs look awesome. And the COBs run much cooler than traditional diodes? I'd have a larger skill set to do those than do this carpentry. Lol

We'll see.

@mopaNi Amazing work man! With the amount of craftmanship you've shown so far, you should go the full stretch and venture into DIY COB lighting, as @Rrog is suggesting. You could make a killer lighting setup for this room and you'd be growing top shelf stuff.

COB lights will mean more efficient lighting for your plants + less heat so you won't need to use an AC, with the added bonus of drawing like up to 60% less electricity.

Nice project and setup, you're going to kill it in there with all your planning and attention to detail, looking great in there. If you can swing it, the COB comments are right, absolutely stunning the yield and quality of bud coming off 3590's. I recently added some and just bought another 300w to fully convert to them. Here's one of my first runs, about 3.5x3.5', 4x 3gal plants, all different strains and killed them all at ~25w/sq. ft. You can either save in electricity and cooling costs, or pay the hydro company, COBs just cost more up-front but pay back in operational costs over time. The other reason I'm going with them is I can run more wattage (or equivalent wattage if you will) in my limited space.
