Uncle weiners!

Any one try out uncle weiners 1000 or 600 watt hps kit ?

Comes with a vented hood and blower and filter assembly.

First time grow for me in a 4x4 tent inside of a insulated garage in -30 Alberta winters.
I’m thinking on getting the 1000watt kit

Just wondering if anyone has purchased one, or if I should steer clear
Thanks

Post a link. The air cooled reflector I bought last year is the coolest thing I’ve bought since indoor grow lights. I have bud less than a foot away from a 1000 watt HPS. I live in Interior Alaska and love the heat in winter.

Unfortunately I can’t because I am still on forum probation lol (newbie)

If anyone else can just google it quickly and post the link that would be appreciated.

How much did you pay for yours hotrodharley?

I got it cheap when a growers supply went out of business. Bought at auction. Paid about $125. A Sun System Blockbuster. Heavy as hell.

First do you need a carbon filter? The price seems a bit high honestly. But if you need everything in the kit it’s not a bad setup at all. And availability in Canada is a plus. Now read the BBB reviews of the seller.

I'm in northern Alberta and did my first growing up here in an insulated garage too but I built a 12 x 5' room inside while I was still renting the place. Landlord was getting nosy so I bought it. lol

I don't know about that kit but I would find a 4x4 tent too restrictive. Wouldn't be too bad if you keep the garage heated so you can work on plants with the tent open. When we're in the deep freeze the plants won't like it when the tent's flaps are opened unless you warm up the garage first. I had heat in there but rarely turned it on unless I had stuff to work on in there.

Got a small acreage about 17 years ago and sold the place in town. Have a nice basement grow room with a smooth cement floor so I can shuffle the plants around like curling when I need to do stuff with them. Just flipped a dozen plants to flower yesterday under a 940W Hortilux conversion bulb riding a Light Rail.

Where abouts are you? I'm up around Peace River and order stuff I need from Andre at All Seasons in Edmonton when I need something. Nothing up here and Grande Prairie has a very limited selection. Lots of goodies in the big city. :)

Good luck!

I am going to give a 4x4 a go right now for my first attempt. See what the power bill does. I only need about 4 oz a month to keep my back from going into spasm.
I am just north of Edmonton.

Do you think a 1000 in a 4x4 would be good ?
Or a led perhaps?

I am definitely going to heat the garage up quite a bit before I open the flaps. But I am afraid of when the lights are off it will be too cold.

A 1000W will be great in the winter but for a ground level grow I'd lean toward a good COB LED system but you won't be getting all you need plus a decent LED for 500. I have about 4G invested overall but that's spread out over almost 20 years.

You're going to want to have a heater on a thermostat in the tent for their night time unless you want to keep the garage heated all winter and that won't be cheap. You'll also want to wrap the tent in blankets or something to insulate it or the heater, if you can find room for it, will be going all night.

You'll also need a good circulation fan in there as well. Oscillating fans work best so you're not blasting the plants with a steady stream of air. Or a wall mount type fan that could be hung upside down or mounted off the floor so it's out of the way.

Power ain't cheap for sure and mine works out to 23.5¢/kwh so damn near $90/mth to run 1000W light 12hrs/day for a month. Not so bad when you can pull a couple pounds from a harvest tho. That's the most expensive part of my growing and I use those rich man's AN nutes! Makes me laugh when haters bitch about the high price of bottled nutes. $200 worth lasts me 5 years so is nothing really compared to the power needed to use them up.

My basement is pretty cool all year round and all the air for my grow room comes from the basement area thru filters so have never needed A/C. You'll probably want to time your growing so you are just vegging smaller plants during the summer under a smaller light system of some kind or you'll be needing AC for sure.

If you insulate the tent for winter a small 500W heater will be good enough. I have a 1500W one and only 750 of it switched on and it's more than enough to keep my room that's 7x9' warm enough. I got a baseboard heater thermostat wired up with cords to switch the heater on and off as needed. It can get down to around 35F in the basement come Feb when the cold winds blow. Never gets over 63 or so all summer. 61 now.

I found a great spot to download FREE POT BOOKS . I downloaded a grow bible first and got lots more. Books look great and complete like the real ones I have here. No web site but just a page of links. Just right click on what you want and then "Save Link As" to download so they don't open first as many are 50+ megs. They got lots. Enjoy.

I run a 1000 HPS in a 4x4. You’ll get your 4 ounces.

After checking it out on prices that’s not a bad deal with Unk. Sell the carbon filter because someone renting will buy it. You can use everything else. The reflector is double walled with steel exterior and pebbled aluminum interior. I approve of the 1000/600 ballast. A real money saver right there. Run 600 veg and 1000 flower.
