why the hell would you want to deal with all that damn water and huge ass rez's???? Check out stinkbuds thread on his aero system, way less pain. Jan i will be building one like his but larger with 4 rows. if your gonna go that big go aero, it seems like a waste of space and less efficiency than aero, but i must admit it does look cool and better than my current setup.

System is one of the easiest and hassle free I've ever run out of soil, drip, aero, and DWC.
Doesn't seem like there's any love for the systems on this site, but THC farmer has a whole
subforum dedicated to just UC users, and you can see the magic they produce.

I don't really see what can go wrong with these systems, and having actually worked with
one I haven't had a single issue except some small leaking at first that was my own fault.
Root rot is also something that ANY hydro users face, so precautions will need to be taken
regardless of method. Having used one I can highly recommend one and here's some bud
porn to back them up.

Here's some of my sour D that's 6 weeks in:

I agree I'm using drip system now but I want to force feed more with the under current system and the only moving part is the pump so there wont be any problems

with aeroponics the misters clog too many parts to go wrong at leat if the pump stops the air stones will aerate the water and the plants will still live but if the pump stops working on the aeroponic system all the plants could die

There are things that can go wrong.

Roots can clog PVC, reason they have 3" larger models.

Air pumps can suck water out of system causing a flood.

Plastic can crack, uniseals can leak.

But for the most part it's a solid system.

agreed!!!! this system looks like alot of money spent on nic nacs that really are not needed in a grow.... wasted money IMO... also anytime you circulate water in the root zone with a drain, your roots will follow where the water exits the buckets. about 1 1/2 months into the grow i can see your lines getting clogged with roots. also a lot of wasted nutrient when you have to change your water. just my opinion GL

There are many who run this system who change out nutes
during flower maybe 1/2 times. The system performs best
when doing larger plants, and that's why each site gets it's
own reservoir. My girls are only 6 weeks into flower and
they each consume easily 1g a day.

I stated I was gonna make one the most expensive parts are the air pump and the water pump. I figure it cost about $300 at the most for a 12 pot system. Just looking at the system I can build it easily and maintain it if any problems occur.

If you're making an exact duplicate it's going to get expensive fast.

The air pump they use is about 150, and each of the square tubs can
be found online for about 10-15 each. The uniseals are also about 4-5
dollars each for the 2" version.

Given those prices you're looking at ~375 for just the grommets, buckets,
and air pump. Throw in the water pump, PVC and joints and you're almost
at 500.

Yeah, THC farmer has some VERY serious UC grows going on. There's 4 or 5 guys
on there with UCs running from 10-30kw worth of lighting. I've heard some bad things
about the site, but their UC section is filled with some great info.

Not sure why the system hasn't picked up here as it really is great.

I am actually in the process of building one of these. This is the first I've heard them called Under Current systems, I've just been incorrectly calling it a DWC. But it's pretty much a bunch of DWCs connected. Anywho mine is different then all the one's I've seen. I am using 3 of the 27gal tough boxes from home depot, and placing 4 plants/air stones in each one. My 1000GPH pump is in the center tough box pumping to the control bucket, and my control bucket flows to the two outer tough boxes via gravity. Hopefully that's enough that you can picture it cause it's not up yet, waiting for room to open up.

I've also found that it's not hard to get them much closer together than in all the pictures I've seen. So my set up isn't going to have 1'-2' (feet) of pipe between containers. More like 1"-2" (inches), 12 plants under 2 1000watt HPS, with a screen on top. They should all have just enough space to fill up their part of the screen.
