Under or over nutrition? Please help

First time grow, Have clones a little over a week in, no noticeable roots yet. Noticed the tips of the leaves were starting to "burn"

-1st i tried moving the lights farther away, but it kept getting worse,
-2nd i flushed the system and took out the nutrients, was using 1/4th strength foxfarm (this was about 35hrs before this pic)
-Now the biggest leaf is starting to turn very yellow

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hi. First, contrats on your first grow. Be prepared for lots of mistakes and the beginning of a NEW addiction. Anyway, when you're cloning it's best to use straight water. In direct answer to your question about the yellow leaf...don't sweat it. In the next day or two it will come off either by itself or with the slighest pressure. It takes a 'normal' plant anywhere from 10-20 days, on average, to start a nice root structure. Eventually, when the clone grows roots the entire clone will naturally start to turn yellow for the simple fact is the clone has become a plant and needs normal plant nutrition.

Some tips for cloning:
1. Keep the clone saturated for the first day or two.
2. Use proper ph'd water w/o nutes.
3. After the third day, cut back the moisture on the leaves. Maybe 75% hydrated throughout the day. Plants need to breathe property.
4. After 10-14 days, if your stems are not showing any signs of new root structure but the stems seem waterlogged internally, then the chances are that clone won't convert.

Yellow clones do not ALWAYS indicate a terminal problem. I have found that having the right propagation supplies really makes a difference in plant success. Good luck. Ask if you have questions.

Yey:weed:, Just today one of the two plants showed roots!

Today is also one week from when i last changed the water. Should i change the water today and add nutes at 1/4 strength or wait for the 2nd plant to show roots?

Thanks for the help

are you putting any type of humidity dome over the clones for the first 7ish days? That will take care of some of your problem next time. I use saran wrap on skewer sticks sometimes when clear cups or an actual dome is unavailable. Good luck!!
