Under watering...

I under watered through my whole grow due to fear of rot. LOL. Now I know a healthy plant will drink the shit out of water. I also learned, modern soilless mixtures drain and dry quickly. Under watering does not allow roots to spread and grow properly and it also seemed to have NOT helped or sustained a very good environment for the wanted micro organisms. My next grow I will water about twice as much, a little more often.

One thing often overlooked is the void around the rim of ones grow pot...many times I've watched people watering a house plant until water came out the bottom...but they watered w/o filling the void around the outer edge and the water gets to the outside of the pot and runs down the outer edge and comes out the bottom shortly there after...bypassing the entire rootball becoming wet...

if your roots were dry and your topsoil was still wet I would lean toward it being a false runoff issue and under watering...run your finger around the edge where the pot meets the dirt and fill that void with dirt prior to watering and then water until runoff...and I know this sounds pedestrian and you probably already do this...might help someone else...g/l

I was having issues for no reason even after getting a ph meter and making adjustments. Plus we've had warnings on drinking the tap water in my area in the past (oldest part of the city I live in). I haven't picked up a ppm tester, but since I switched to store bought my plants have not been looking like crap for no reason. Maybe I'll give my tap water a go on one of the clones I have going and see if the same thing happens that did in the past.
Did you let it sit for at least 24hrs before using? Most tap water will need to gas off any chemicals your city or town are putting in. A simple Rubbermaid with a little air stone is all you need. Hope this works...I hate hauling water!

Ya, I was stocking up water and letting the chems evaporate out. I agree on the water hauling...
