Uninterruptible Power Supply - Recommendations Please

Hi,

Anyone have any recommendations on an UPS? I've done a bit of looking and most that I see seem to be designed for computers. Also, I'm not sure what exactly I'm looking for. Ideally I'd like to be able to use one for lighting, ac, water/air pumps, exhaust fan(s), and circulation fans but I'd settle for one that ensured my lights go on and remain on for scheduled on/off cycles.

Right now I'm running a 400 watt hps (digital ballast) but may want to upgrade in the future.

that will be a huge investment mostly in batteries. how often do you have power outs and how long does it last?

I don't have frequent power outages. I guess I was just looking into preventative measures or fail-safes for the future. One of the 900 amp UPS (made for computers) was only $126. Is what I'm looking for so much more expensive as to be prohibitive?

From my understanding a standard UPS is basically a big battery that recharges itself during normal power cycles and only comes into play when a power outage were to occur.

yes they come on but you only get about 10 mins of use from them. there ment to protect computers so you can shut them down so you dont loose data. it is possible but expensive to insure your lights will stay on for an extend outage.

dude that small UPS won't work the big ones are so expensive and not needed. plants can easily handle many hours of power outage if it happens rarely
