UP camping in June, Suggestions?

Taking the family this June up to the UP. We have narrowed the list down to 2 or 3 places and thought someone here would have a suggestion.
Just tent camping for 3 days with an oz. of goodness.

What are some good campgrounds in the U.P.?, that arent close to the main attractions, ie Taqhuammonen falls.

My favorites are Anderson Lake in Gwinn and Bass Lake in Gwinn. (there are 2 bass lakes in gwinn, one east and one west, west has campground). Those are both rustic. That is central UP. Best campground I have found heading east is Pete's lake in Alger county, there are actually several campgrounds there. If you want to do the drive, Porcupine mountains is absolutely fantastic. Another very good one is Shakey Lake in Menominee county and it is close to DeYoung's Zoo in Wallace, great campground and the zoo is one of the coolest things I have seen up here. They had a show on Nat Geo channel. It is the largest population of big cats in the midwest. They do feeding at 1am (central time) and they drive around and throw huge slabs of meat over the fence. Cool as fuck, let me tell you. Oh, the last 3 have power and shit.

lake of the clouds in the porcupine mountains has hiking trails but the lake is catch and release i think. watch out for big cats wolves bears and maybe moose.if you have kids take them to the mystery spot make sure you smoke down before you go .

Try the stergeon river in Wolverine. Not the Up but it's by there in Lp. Best kayak river in this state and camping is cheap. There is a campground on trowbridge road. Trust me it's awesome. In the Up there is a lot to do near Paradise. If you stay near the bridge you can go anywhere within an hour or two drive.

If you like to kayak google the stergeon river. It's so fun. You see every star and you can smoke down and nobody cares.

I have hit a lot of shit through there, but never the mystery spot or mackinaw island. I need to though.

Does anyone know what the state parks policy are when it comes to medicating?

I think its like the armys policy with gays with a twist. You gotta make it so they don't ask so you don't have to tell. Smoke downwind till we get it in writing. Cause it is public and I do not think we are to smoke in public in any case?

I imagine blazing down at your picnic table like I have always done is still frowned upon by those that do not partake. Thank God marijuana is one of the best smelling things on earth. You difficult would life be if marijuana smelled like ass.
Anyway if you go to rustic campgrounds in the UP not only can you blaze, but you can actually set up a grow and spend the summer growing some plants. lol. You will need to keep the deer from stealing your stash though.

I am not sure what you mean by state campground. Van Riper is a state park. Pike Lake, Little Lake, W. Bass, Anderson Lake, Craig Lake, I believe those are State Forest, but still state.
That section of Alger county is loaded with great parks also! I have stayed at a few of those.

My favorite was always a rustic campground about 10 miles east of Grand Marais, I think it was called Lake Superior State campground. Right on Lake superior, only about 7 campsites, outhouses& hand-pumpwater. I haven't been in several years, but I used to go in early to mid June, and was usually the only one there.

Is there a trail to a big waterfall?

I saw these yesterday and picked them up. The left is self explanitory, it cost me $15 at Herb's bar in beautiful downtown Rock, Mi. The one on the right is a free guide that I got at the same time. It is a fantastic guide. I am not a biker, but the businesses that step forward asking for their business, should be more apt to welcome mj patients as well. They have campground lists and everything else you need to know.
The free motorcycle guide is from UPCruising.com.

we called and asked the operator that we had one dog and needed to get away for a weekend in the UP and she set us up with a place in Taquemononon falls in the back and said that if we didnt like it we could just move to one we liked since not more than 3 had reservations. :-D
June 1-31 in the Taq. Park, look for the white dog ;-)
