Uprooted sprout

Long story short a sprout was uprooted. Is there a way to salvage it?

The root was torn a little and the stem was bent, but not too badly.

sure. These little sprouts seem damn near indestructible.

I know what I did when that...
I mean, I know what I would do if that ever happened to me!
assuming the soil is not dry...dig a tiny hole.
put it back in dirt.
carefully put dirt back.
don't pack the dirt down crushing the roots.
gently tamp.
don't drown it with water.
walk away. medicate or something.
see what happens

I have absolutely no idea what I am doing though...
