upset about cfls

Im not a very happy camper today,my 26 watt cfls are burning up my plant.
well the fan leaves anyway.I have the lights up as far as they will go.I am
a cabinet grower so I dont have but so much room to grow in. I guess I will
let the bud keep growing until it looks like the lights start messing that up.
the pistils are starting to go back into the pod so maybe it wont be that long
anyway.Is there a brand that runs cooler than others??.thxs for any help.

Sounds more like u need a fan blowing on ur plants to me. I grow in a cabinet with CFL's and a 90watt UFO. The three fans in the UFO keep enough air moving that I haven't experienced this problem as of yet.

i was thinking this same exact thing.. if you keep a fan in your grow, you'd be suprised how much closer you could run the bulbs to the plant without burn issues..

What's your ventilation like?

I have (3)23watt CFL's about... 1.5 inches (maybe closer) to a 7 day old seedling. I put a fan in front of the cabinet to pull out the hot air and it stays at PERFECT temps.

I do have a small cpu fan,do u think that would be big enough?
maybe I need to get a big 120 mm cpu fan.what brand cfls do u use brandon?

I have a 10" osculating fan in my closet, never burnt will cfls or even mh for that matter, burnt my top cola with my hps cuz it got top heavy and leaned into the light.

I will get a couple bigger fans and mouny them high blowing out and see if that doesnt help.

Initially I had a small cpu fan, but it doesn't cool them off enough so during lights on (during the day) I open the cabinet door and use a regular room fan sitting in front of the door. Generates plenty of air to suck out and moves the plant around to strengthen it's roots.

I can't find the brand of my cfl's but they are the moderately priced ones from home depot. like.. $8 for (4)23watt bulbs I think...

I've never seen cfls burn unless they are actually touching. The rpoblem with cfls is if you back them away, the plants stretch toward them. That's why I quit using them.

my cab is sitting on top of my bookcase so I will have to find some nice size fans to mount on the cab it self.
should I have one blowing in and the other out or both out?

cfls are all I can afford right now "illegal smile" so I have to
work with these now .once I cool it down inside the cab
I think that will do the trick.maybe one day I will be able
to afford a HID.would be nice!!

just vetting the advice you've gotten, high temps sound like part of the problem
if you can mount a remote temperature probe to measure temps, it may be helpful
not expensive, there is a cheapy at walmart for about $5 or so

one or two exhaust fans. no intake fan needed. even if the temps @ your plants canopy is around 90-95 degrees its not a big deal its going to be like 80-85 just 6 inches below that.

just make sure you have big intake holes, rougly twice the size of your exhaust(s)
