i'd plant those deeper if you're going to do that, i've had them grow roots out the side of the bag almost all the way up to the top

Never had that problem.
The roots die when they hit air.
The roots only grow through where the bags contact moist soil.

No slits required.

Not doubting that you have seen it.
Just never been an issue for me

not that its an issue so much, but if you're going to bother burying pots, why not bury the whole thing and take advantage of as much contact surface as possible?

Believe it or nor I have reasons. Lol
They may not be worth a shit but here they are.
I use the height advantage to reach my screen sooner in a scrog.

Also once the root ball in the top bag hardens up it makes an excellent splash landing when I water.
Meaning i water hard into top pot and it runs off into pot number 2 without disturbing the soil.

And its easier to dig the top bag out later if you reuse them.
I don't but if you do they will be in very good condition.

Plus the bottom bag fills with roots either way
