:idea:What are the odds of both these lights blowing out after using them just a few days? I have surge protectors on them, but after I put them in they only lasted about one week. Anyone here have electrical knowledge? I'm thinking the universe is maybe telling me NOT to grow.:fire:

I think the odds of them both burning out are greater than the odds of the universe telling you not to grow. Give it another try. The universe rewards persistence.

make sure your hooking up the right volt to the ballast. Some ballast are multi tap and CAN use diff. volts

Can you give us more info? What type of ballasts? What type of timers? What type of surge protectors? Self built system? Store bought system? Etc.? Something doesn't sound right.

The problem might be what you are plugging then into. When I first moved into the place I am living, I started blowing power supplies on my pc. HP finally suggested that an electrician might be in order. They were right. The circuit that the outlet was wired into had some kind of problem that caused anything plugged in to eventually fry. It had something to do with imbalanced voltage or some shit. I am not an electrician so when he explained it, he might as well been speaking in Klingon. New breaker, new wires and new outlet. 3 years later no problems. I hope your solution is easier than that.

Those bulbs are complicated, thats why I don't use em.

You have to be sure your ballast and bulb match, you cant just pick a bulb and plug it in cause it fits.

Good Luck!!! :wall::wall:

I did have an electrician come out and check out the wiring, plus he checked over the 250hp unit and the 600hps unit and made sure they were working properly. He looked at my surge protector and said that was ok. "The timer" - he said was questionalbe becauce it had no info on it. So his conclusion was that both bulbs did blow, and that I should purchase a timer that was"co-efficient" with grow lights.........and that was all I could do.
