Back to the topic at hand, though. I'm not kidding about the importance of the lobby. That would be SO much more effective than putting up billboards, and it would reach the right people (the ones who actually make the laws on a state and federal level). It's expensive, but it works. Just look at the fucking digital television signal conversion fiasco for a primer on the effectiveness of the lobby. Or, if you really wanna get pissed off about something, search AARP lobby. FUCK if that doesn't chap my hide!
I SO totally agree with you on this one. It's a shame that the best lobbyists are those that work for major corporations. And the only ones that have that kind of money don't want to invest in the drug war. It's a sore spot they can't afford to blemish their record.
Which is why I mention that we need to focus on the healthier aspects of cannabis. There are ways to use THC that don't involve a significantly heightened risk of cancer. That's something that people could get behind.
Perhaps if we had the tools in our hands and the right social networks at our fingertips... hell I imagine that if we all worked together to pull some strings we could pull something off... Lord knows we have friends in low places, I'm certain more than a few of us have friends in high places, as well.
If everyone who is a patient would to donate $1, there would be enough money to fund so many adds and lobbyists and whatever else. 1 million people got arrested for smoking marijuana, I reckon theres like 20 million people that would be interested in the legalization of cannabis(?).

OK. I have an idea, imagine that an old fart with an idea. I got it when I was a speech given by Ethan Nedelmann, the founder and executive director of Drug Policy Alliance. It seems like he believes all of the Norml people feel betrayed by all of their middle class friend. They used to smoke and maybe still do the just won't tell any body, They keep it in the closet. And then there was this ad campaign, you might remember, whats in your wallet. So we mix the two.

That question I cannot answer. I only know these numbers from a job working for a business that is supported (subsidized) by taxpayer dollars. To give more information here would actually be violating an agreement I made with them. However, they are a strong lobby (got the FCC to pass that digital tv conversion bullshit). You might want to actually contact the folks at NORML, as they're already organized and may already have lobbyists on staff.
For the oldest one, yes, he suffers from both disorders as yourself, and it does pain me to see how he is self-destructive, the choices in friends he makes, and when he's down. The younger one, though, he's the sweetest, kindest, and most generous person I have ever known, and I'm amazed that I've had the honor of being his mother.
Again, that's incredibly generous of you (and somewhat anathema to the "standard" autistic mindset).

Sorry.. you've pretty much hit a few nails upon their headses.The thing here is that, in my opinion, it is the (corporate) lobby that has really corrupted our current political system and structure. But, can we beat 'em? I don't know, so I say let's do as the Japanese did, play the game but play it better.
