I see that as of today I would have to pay $14 if i wanted to enter the US. Well they can shove that one where the sun don´t shine - I will spend my Euros (which the US economy is keen to have) somewhere else.

I've never been to the US and would love to go....but that'a bit cheeky, especially since it seems you get such a hard time at customs as well. My mum owned a house in Miami and she always got hassle from customs. She got dragged off to a room an interogated once, her words: "Fukking liberty, the guy couldn't even speak proper fukin' English, some Chinese looking guy!!" I did laugh hard, the older she gets, the more she swears, haha.

do you have a link or something we can read?

EDIT: If you apply just now you can get it for free. Lasts for 2 years.

He said: "The security authorisation lasts for two years, so do it now and it'll be free if you travel in that time. Yet leave it for a month and you'll have to pay for it.
He went on: "It is rather strange that this fee is mainly going to promote US tourism. You would've thought keeping it cheaper to get in would help more - after all, it's free for most Americans to come here."

That's nothing. I have to pay $100+ for a passport to get the hell out if I choose too.

Customs is a bitch regardless of what country you are in.

Would you rather prefer a strict, rigid process for screening idiots, or a loose process?

Think about it: having a difficult custom process is good, esp. if you have nothing to hide. Obviously, there are mistakes that happen, but better to lock up an innocent man than let the terrorists through and hurt many good folk.

Not in Spain it isn´t. In fact I don´t think they even have customs at Alicante or Murcia airports, the two I use. And I have NEVER had to show my passport on entering the country.
