US jobless rate falls to 7.8 pct., 44-month low

I know, liberals don't think about the individuals, they look only at the collective. If 7.8% is good although much of that comes from people leaving the work force (for various reasons), then so be it.

Its all about the denominator. Smaller the bottom number, larger the percentage.
Metrics used now are the same ones that have been used for the last 20 years

Facts suck ass when they aren't on your side

There is no indication if the dropoff is due to people finding jobs or people simply giving up looking for a job. Therefore, the chart has no meaning...
brilliant . . you must run your own corporation . . . or a lawn mowing business . . . . . .i know high school graduates as business savy as you . . should i make them my accountant

You guy's honestly make me sick
Your willful ignorance is amazing

Economists believe New UC claims under 400000 a week is a sign the economy is improving
over 400000 new UC claims means the economy is weakening

And it has been that way for the last decade

The economy is improving has been for a while

Why can't you be happy?
Damn I,m happy I get to vote the "black muslim in the white house ain't that the shit" out in 30 days.

Looks like the unemployment rate is 5% higher than it was in 2007 based on the percent of people in the country working. While the number is a vague indication of how the economy is doing, it isn't very useful except to politicians.

The Government likes to cook numbers. I mean, look at at a GDP chat.

Obama can say the economy is growing under him the last few years in actual numbers. When you look at it adjusted for inflation you can see we have only increased once in the last decade.

Finally, here is a chart of unemployment numbers:

Look to see mid 8's return after Christmas. I really fail to see what there is to celebrate.

That there is recovery maybe? Unless you believe Obama is responsible for that great plunge in employment during the economic downturn.
Neither of those actually show an improvement. There is no recovery yet. I didn't blame Obama for the plunge, I do blame him somewhat for laying on the bottom twitching though.

We are not talking facts, we are talking statistics.

The facts are that well over 10% of the population is un-employed or underemployed and no amount of dicking around with the unemployment rate will change that on election day.

Not to worry folks.

Mitt Romney's has his 'Fact Checkers' working overtime to disprove these statistics.

It should be relatively easy for them, too.

Hear that 'shaking' sound coming from the 'Etch-A-Sketch'?

Practically everything Romney sez is a lie and he's already begun creating jobs for 'Fact Checkers'.

Don't think there will be a call for 12,000,000 of them tho, unless Mitt gets elected....................

Any good news for America is bad news for the right and probably just a left wing conspiracy.

Desperate right is desperate.

Spin it how they like but wages increased and more people are working.
Oh, really...Hmmm.
Wages up... inflation too.
More people working? Really, let me ask my Sister, Cousin, and next door neighbor. Whom are looking for a decent job.
Nope...they don't share your BS view on how thing are going.

Open your eyes.

Funny thing that no one actually links to the BLS report.

http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm

Pay attention to the following:
The number of persons employed part time for economic reasons (sometimes referred to as involuntary part-time workers) rose from 8.0 million in August to 8.6 million in September.
600,000 people all of a sudden involuntarily lost their full time jobs and had to go to part time work.

Hey pretty soon we will be at full employment and everyone will work 4 hours a week at the McDonalds.

Ain't recovery grand?

a gain of 114,000 isn't even enough to keep up with population growth.

Bottom Line
no matter what metric you use in figuring out Unemployment stats
If you use the same metrics from 2009 and now

it comes out the same

the economy is doing better
