Using Molasses

what about adding it to a DWC? any advice for that? is it even needed? and would it substitute for AN bud candy?
 
Does anyone have an actual straight answer or have proof to show that molasses works and what it does to help a plant. I want to try it but it seems like all the posts contradict each other. (with a few little sissy fights in the middle) stick to the subject and stop insulting each other, please, no one wants to read that shit in the middle sort of speak.
 
Whats the best type to use? And if I'm in a nute program should I mix it in with my nutes or make it separate ? Thankful if I could get some good answers, keep puffin
 
Unsulphured blackstrap molasses. Botanicare and AN sell it at a huge markup. You can go to something like smart N Final or a grocery outlet store and buy it by the gallon for super cheap. In soil, I use 1tbs/gallon for veg and 2tbs/gallon in flower.

Molasses doesnt feed your plant, it feeds the microorganisms in the soil that convert organic matter into plant0
available goodies.
 
plants make their own sugars. molasses feeds the microbes in the soil. i find it works well in compost teas. haven't read whole thread, so if someone said it already.............i agree:)
 
My experience on various outside soil plants is that it is a most benificial additive.In DWC or passive hydro the plant does get fed with the trace minerals.In hydro the next 24-48 hrs your res is going to be a shit bomb.I just started an experiment with molasses flushing in passive hydro.I normaly just do a 24 hr ph'ed water flush,but I want to have more white ash that my cure does not accomplish.Before harvest I took 2 of my plants,and drained/flushed res.I took 2 tbsp of Grandmas unsulphered robust to a 1/2 gal
of plain tap water,and filled up each res (Hempy cup).I let sit 24hrs(no ph checking/adjusting etc),then drained out,and flush/replace with Brita filtered unph'ed tap.Next 3 days I watch the plant take the boost then deplete.On the fourth day as the leaves yellow I chopped,and now I have them hanging waiting for the jar.
I cannot wait to smoke the results.
 
when using molases, be careful where you pour out any extra water. i poured about a gallon out in one of my bathtubs and wandered off. the next morning, about 1/4 of the tub had a brownish yuck all over it.
 
After much research online,and hands on in both soil/hydro.
I will only use Molasses in soil wether veg or bloom.1tsp-1 Tbs per gal of nute solution or water.
In Hydro there is no need if using quality nutes.In hydro the pathogens will quickly spread if you do not have a check balance of bennies.I run a sterile res.I tried a 2 Tbs per gal flush,and the Molasses taste did start to work into the taste of the bud at that concentration............YUCK!

Molasses in soil,sugar for bennies,trace minerals for plant.
Hydro:Complete nute regiment,and less or no nutes during final days of chop.This gives me more white ash in my bowl before jar cure.
 
Why NOT use ST during flowering ??

(I read through 5 pages of responses with no answer... maybe I missed it?)
I've been using ST from seed to final flush since the late 80's with a usual 0.9GPW.
I use 1-3 drops per gal every watering based on size/age of plant

BUT if I can hear a good factual' reason to stop during flowering I'll give it a try :clap:

I can only guess is ST is Super Thrive.

Please do us a favor and bookmark this thread.Do a side by side of no ST,and ST.I am talking even if you clone no ST,and ST.From seed to final cure.
Then post here to this Molasses thread.

I never used it but I read not to use in flower,or you will get leafy nugs.
