using music to aid growing?

Has anyone here ever tried playing music constantly to plants while growing?
im sure i heard somewhere some time ago about studies made with growing plants with constant music versus plants in silence showed a difference, its just i cant remember the difference!! :-P

so i read some research from cornell university agricultural experiment station where the did studys on just that the findings if i rember right were that classic music showed a slight increase in yield...why other music like death rock and high frequency noises can impair yield ..mybusters did an experment which was misleading to show the exact opposite resolute there test was not conclusive as there water timer went out or somthing to that effect and there where way to many variables that they did not take into acount ...

there was a man in the 70,s who belived bird chirps where the way to go he would mist or follar feed his plants the play extended bird chirps like after a rain storm the birds start chirping... the sounds of birds may be good for plants ........myself i belive the sound of running water might be good to might make them think that there is a resource close by and send them into over drive on root growth but thats just my theroy i havent had time or space to test it

awesome response billy!
i myself generally have a nice chilled cd on when tending to my plants, but i kinda wonder if that is more for me or the plants benefit.

have you herd of the bio/wave these have quite a price tagg but they look really cool farmer are starting to use the they even have a solar panel option can cover up 2 acers or somthing crazy like that BioWave- Farm Division

Introduction:

The DI 9000 and DI 9200 Agricultural growth boosters are the first products of Biowave Industries Inc. which was formed to innovate and manufacture new energy products.
These products featuring stainless steel cages that counter rotate, have been proven in three years of lab and field tests to create more yield in vegetables and fruits. It does this by creating subsonic harmonic waves that resonate with the plants and cause them to breathe better.

The growth boosters come in two versions:

An outside solar- assisted version, the DI 9000 which has a coverage area of ten acres.(see Products for details). It plugs directly into the wall and only uses 60 watts of power.
A smaller indoor unit, the DI-9200 designed for hydroponics and greenhouse applications has a coverage area of approximately 5000 sq feet. This device can be wall or ceiling mounted.(see Products for details)


Field Test - Oxnard CA

On 7/20/09 a BioWave machine was installed in a 35 acre field in Oxnard CA.

The device test protocol was as follows:

· Run two right angle vectors in the center of the field out from the Bio -wave machine for 336 feet in four directions.
· This makes four vectors North, South, East and West.
· This creates a 10 acre test plot in the middle of the 35 acre field.
· Along these vectors four plants have been marked as test locations.
· Additionally one plant has been designated at the end of each row which varies from 50 to 350 feet further away.
· To begin each test plant had flowers and fruit (tomatoes) counted twice weekly.
· As the plants grew all fruit was counted once a week.
· The BioWave machine was on a timer that caused it to operate for 20 minutes three times a day for a total of 60 minutes a day.
· Everything else: water fertilizer, sunshine, pesticides were constant throughout the field.

The results are clearly be seen by the following graphs that the effect covered the 10 acre plot.


Summary Conclusions:

There are marked differences in all four directions from the plants that are the closest to the machine relative to those further out.
The most dramatic differences are from the machine itself to the edge plants. But even from 56 ft (the second number from the machine) to the edge plants the average difference in tomato production is 22.5 to 9.5 tomatoes; a more than 100% difference.

The curves all go in the same direction…more production of tomatoes the closer the plant is to the Biowave machine.

At the end of the test in November 2009, final numbers were that the projected harvest by weight for ten acres was supposed to be 400,000 lbs or 40,000 lbs per acre.

The actual number was 453,000 lbs or a gain of 12%.​
