Using pearlite as a medium for clones?

anyone have experience with this? will the clones take root properly? i use pearlite now as a medium in DWC but i have no experience cloning. any help is great help!

It will work. Most people use coco now instead for a number of reasons. What you are talking about is the hempy method which has been pretty much replaced by coco because of price effectivity and overall ease of use. The best medium in my experiences for rooting cutting though is rockwool.

I've done it. The surface of the perlite tends to remain moist enough to eventually grow green algae, but cuttings root pretty well in it and they are easy to uproot for transplant.

Edit: I too prefer rockwool for cloning.

i've used perlite too, it works. best to use a rooting hormone, yes.

Using a hormone will reduce rooting time and increase success rates.

Never used but have read vermiculite/pearlite mixture works best...(from one book) but it showed perlite by itself and the roots didnt take off nearly as much.....
