using rockwool for first time....help?

so i went out and bought a dwc 5 gal bucket. and i had a bunch of fem seeds. so instead of buying all jiffy cubes or some other shit. i figured id get a big thing of rockwool type cubes.
my issue is i have never used these. now i followed the directions but why do they want me to drop the ph to 5 or 5.5? wouldnt that lock out water? and once they are soaked in the 5.5 water do i just mist em with regular water till they pop out?

once they pop. i can keep em in the tray and just water em till they are ready to go into soil or my dwc?

what types of cubes did you get,

All cubes have to be ph'd, because in rockwool, the plant takes nutrients at a different ph to soil, it should be kept around 5.8.

by soaking it in 5.5 you drop the ph down,

I would personally germinate in paper towels but thats just me, it depends though on what size cubes you have put your seeds into, but you wanna keep those cubes fairly moist at ph 5.8/

yeah im not sure what co makes em. but i followed the directions to a tee. im watching ph and all that. it makes me nervous because ive never had a seed not come up using soil. trying new shit is scary

rock wool has alot of lime in it it after processing, you need to soak and flush the lime out of it to get it to exceptable ph. when i dont se white residue after flushing and letting it drain for a bit im ready to use it,test ph first of course but that usualy does the trick for me

Yep. I just did the same.

Germinated in papertowl + heatmat... Then moved them into rockwool and under a dome... I removed the dome after they appeared.

After about a week I moved them into hydroton netcups.

is it ok to just toss em in the cube then into a dome keep em moist? thats what the dude at the hydro store told me to do...new shit makes me nervous.
the cubes are about 2 by 2 inches

If your using cfl's to veg, then a dome is going to make them stretch a lot in the initial phase, as long as you keep the cube moist then it will be fine in a tray directly under the light.

im using a 600 hps a 400 hps 2 100 hps, and 4 t8 four foot floros.....also im adding 2 400 mh to the grow soon. so plenty of light right? im growing soil also in 18 gallon buckets...up from 5 gals last time

oh i dropped the ph to 4.5 to soak the a-ok cubes. my blz bud is sprouted already first set of true leafs are there now.....can i put the cube into the hydroton rocks in the net pot, then top the bucket with the net pot?

sweet. when i get home from my pharmacy im puttin the bad bo....girl in there....oops dont want to jinx myself....they are femenized anyway. do you guys use femenized? or do you want the males also for breeding....i was reading how you can get 10g of hash from 100 grams of the shit left over. well what if i kept my males if there are any. could i make hash with those also? is it worth it?
