Using soil straight out of the bag?

does anyone use soil straight out of the bag? iv always heard you should let it (fox farm or miracle grow or whatever) sit out in the sun and water it a few times before putting your plants in it. couldnt find anything when i googled it so thought id ask yall. thanks for info

i dont use MG but i use FFoF right out the bag with seeds planted directly in it. 100% germination rates and 100% healthy seedlings. Dont listen to the FFoF burns plants its total BS

That's not true. One thing with this hobby is that there are few absolutes.

My seedlings had slight nutrition burn from FFOF, and it was mixed with 25% perlite.

It is probably strain dependent, among other factors. But to say it is BS is to ignore What is happening to other grows.

I dont think it was bad burn, nor do I think it really had a negative effect, but it was there...and logged in my journal.

I've been using sunshine mix 4 out of the bag for years for indoors for years. I like it because it doesn't have any ferts. so I control what goes into it. It's also such a great value, I don't think some shops like to recommend it because one bag equals like 5 or 10 of ffof, and they make a lot less money. I use it for all my outdoor flower and vegetable container gardening too. Pepper especially love sunshine 4. It looks like new after a grow, so I rototiller it into my main garden the next year and I never have to by amendments like peat in there either. Innoculate it with some Great White or a similar product, and I promise you will be very happy and have a lot of extra money to buy important things like co2.

I'd also like to mention the honest guy that owns the shop I go to told me a lot of guys are mixing an addition 25% to 50% perlite to their sunshine 4. It allows for the already excellent drainage to be better, allowing for more waterings, and therfor more nutes over the cycle, resulting in more yield. I'm trying that on my next cycle with some side buy side tests.

my ph has been at 6.8 the whole time, i have a few plants that look like that and they started looking like that about a week ago and it started with the new growth

i havent really given them any nutes yet accept one feeding of roots organics but im using ffoc straight out of the bag also

and i had them under a 600 watt for like a month then put them under a 1000 for a few weeks then back to 600 cause it got too hot in the room and now theyve been outside for like a week

Sorry, I just reread your post and missed some of what you were asking. Sitting in the sun serves no purpose. Drench with water and allow to sit 2-3 days till it starts to dry out, but don't let it completely dry. Then when you transplant, use your microbial (I like Great White) when you are transplanting. If you put the microbial in the first watering, you'll wash it out when you water in the transplant. Unlike a pre-ferted soil, you can start with a very low fert level at first, and you'll never burn like I'm reading here.
