using stinkbuds aeroponic setup- advice please!!

I am using stinkbuds 3 system aeroponics setup. Instead of using the cloner, I went straight to the veg system which is very similar. I took some cuttings of some of my plants that were about 10'' tall, they are doing well by themselves in the 2'' net pot and neoprene sleeves. I got some other clones that had the rapid rooter plugs, stuck them in the system and it seemed that 1 min. on and 4 min. off was keeping them too wet. Is this system not meant for any type of soil/rockwool etc.?? It seems that if you use anything but the stem then it holds too much water. Thanks

Heres a couple pics, I took the ones with rockwool out so they could dry out, they were looking pretty sorry

Stinkbuds Aero systems ONLY use the Neoprene sleeves on top of the net pots...and that is all. This allows excess moisture to drain back and also allows the exposed roots to get as much aerated nutes as possible. You should not need ANY media with this system, that is the both the simplicity and beauty of it! :)
Good luck!

So is it possible to wash away the rapid rooter plugs and go with just the neoprene sleeves? or will this just shock the plants and kill them? Half are in neoprene sleeves and the others are in soil, which are not part of the system anymore. Going with no soil is definitely the way to go, so if its possible I would love to get rid of the plugs and go with stinkbuds system all the way. Thanks again for the info

or if it isnt possible to wash the rapid rooter cube away could I just snip the main stem as low as possible and then stick it in the neoprene sleeve? or would this not be good to cut the clone away from its couple of roots this early on in its growth, causing stress? Thanks again

The main shock will be that of PH...make sure your water PH is close to 5.8 as possible. Based on your PH of the rooters, you might be able to start with 6.0 and bring it down slowly.
That is why Stinkbuds system starts clones like he does...no soil or plugs to wash away and they go straight into the veg cycle. If you also check, one of the BEST commerically available cloners opertates the same way: The EZ CLone system. The 60 site one is fantatsic and Stinkbuds is modeled after that if I remember right.(also uses no media)
Here's Stinkbuds nute directions again, in case you need em:

I run this nutrient formula for vegetative growth:
Botanicare Nutrients:
126ML Cal-Mag Plus
180ML Liquid Karma
540ML Pure Bend Pro Vegetative Formula

I start at 1500 PPM and bring it up to 2000 PPM by the second week of veg. I change the nutrients every 3 weeks with each new crop.
I adjust my PH to 5.8

Quote:
Here is my formula for my flower room:

Botanicare Nutrients:
126ml Cal-Mag Plus
150ml Sweet
180ml Liquid Karma
540mlL Pure Bend Pro Bloom

I run 2000 PPM all the way until the flush cycle. Some strains like AK47 can handle over 3000 PPM without burning. Other strains show signs of tip burn at just 1700 PPM. Since I run 10 different strains I set my PPM for a good overall value.

WOW!!! Thank you. So just to clarify, I can take my clones out of their plugs carefully and stick them into the aeroponics system without killing them??

Yeah just be careful with the roots. Or just get some new ones going without any medium. Keep that perpetual system loaded up. They grow so fast with this system. Thanx stinkbud

so what timer are you guys using to be able to set it to 1 on 4 off all day.
the only ones i can find (digital) have only 20 programmes a day and for 1 on 4 off all day you would need 24 programs each hour.
so if anyone can clarify what kind of timer people are using for the cloner that would be muchly appreciated,
cheers.

also how would you go about cloning with the ez cloner then transferring into a rockwool/clay ball trickle system.
i was going to soak the rockwool cubes in a ph conditioner first, then inserting the stem and roots as carefully as possible into the 1 1/2 inch rockwool cubes and then into 3 inch cubes, pack both the cubes in a 8 inch pot with the clay. and finally trickle them with appropriate canna nutes. any advice would be great as this my first grow and need all the help i can get.

I got a timer that is already programmed for you at 1 min. on and 4 min. off. Thats all the timer does 24/7, you cant program it for anything else. I actually have one I bought for 90 bucks, and now im not even using it. PM me if you want more info. Peace

You want to get these grodan rockwool plugs. Put your cutting in the aerocloner, when you see roots, slip it into this plug and then into your rockwool cube. Works perfect!

Its a fixed program cycle timer. All you do is plug it into an outlet, plug your pump into the timer and youre good to go. No programming needed, just plug it in and you are set.

the info is right you CAREFULLY remove the plug
from around the root DO NOT DAMAGE the roots
if you can put in neoprene collar in 2" netty pot
put in cloner fill res about half way you dont want
roots hanging in water add 150ml clonex (optional)
adjust ph to 5.8 set timer to 1/5 or 1/4 depending on
the timer you have. put your babies in ang go
