Ok, my uncle who is a heating and cooling wizard is helping me build my room. Well today he tells me " you know that u could prolly use the water that ur central air puts down the drain. I believe it is actually distilled water that comes out of it" Have any of you guys heard of this? The tube carrying the water just empties into my sink down there, so he said to just put the tube in a gallon bottle till it fills up and ten put a new bottle down there..
Is this water safe to grow with? It would be great and a way to save some extra $$$... Please someone let me know..

DO NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hvac ducting systems have all kinds of molds and fungi in them, by themselves, are inert.... let a spore get into your growing medium and see what happens....

the easiest solution is put 5 gallon (or 42 gallon barrel) buckets under the rain water spouts to collect rain water.... I've used that before .. works well

Thank u for the quick response .. That is what I thought also, but I thought I would check with people who know more than me.. Again thank u guys

If you want pure water, get a reverse osmosis filter. You can find them on ebay for about 100 bucks, and can test their effectiveness with an EC or ppm meter. The lower the number, the better it works. For instance, my RO filter takes my tap water from an EC of .3 down to .018, which means that my water is very pure.

eagleeyehammerthrust your name and avatar are awesome! the funniest episode of top gear ever i think. the fact that they put a diesel generator in the back to charge the batteries is priceless. and for the water out of the ac you could boil it and then use it but then u might as well just boil and distill tap water. like eagleeye said get a RO filter of some sort of water filter. depends on where you live, i don't know that i would trust the rain water either.
