using window ac year roiund as intake

hey guys, i am setting up a room with a window a/c unit that will cool while supplying fresh air to the room. i am wondering if all new ac units have protective fail safes to prevent damage in freezing temps. also, will the fan still work if the unit shuts the cooling feature off? this will be the only intake for the room and i wanna be sure that it will work year round.

An A/C exchanges little to no air. This won't work any part of the year.

If you set the fan to continuous it will blow, but the compressor only runs if the thermostat tells it to. But it still won't bring in enough fresh air.

Those window bangers exchange just enough air to leak odor if the room stinks.
