UV Light to max THC

The best UVB bulbs out right now are 12% Arcadia's. But you will need the HO ballast to run them. Zoo med 10% bulbs are giving some good results. Don't waste your money on the repti glo. Not the same quality as the zoo med or the arcadia. I keep mine in close for maximum exposure and run them 12 hrs on from week 3 of flower when trichs are building to the end. The results speak for themselves.

I know its an old post but its an ongoing topic..

Anyone attempting to use UVB light for flowering that DOESN'T want to degrade THC levels to CBD and CBN should be careful with your flowering phase times.. My recent experience showed me that the plant matures (trichs start going amber early) about 1-1.5 weeks quicker if you use UVB lights 12/12 at flowering time. This doesn't mean you'll have nice tight nugs though.. :( We are going to have to balance the UVB exposure somehow to get more and tighter buds before the THC degrades.

This time around I'll be introducing UVB light at about 3-5% of my total light output in week 2 of flowering and shutting it off 1 week before flush.. Hopefully this will balance out the maturation rate with the bud grow rate and create loads of resin..

Its an experiment well worth trying.. I'll be posting it in a grow journal if I can get over an old habit of not creating evidence and take pictures of my grow..
That is simply not true from the prospective of someone with proven results of using UVB. Kite replies to that statement in the UVB thread from the advanced section. https://www.rollitup.org/advanced-marijuana-cultivation/497246-uva-uvb-real-deal-must-15.html#post9056861

Bs. Never happened to me. He fucked them up with heat from the bulbs not UVB
thc does not degrade into CBD but just CBN. No amber trichs no CBN. I use UVB from sprout. Same lighting schedule as the main lights.
That fact that people are spreading so much misinformation when it comes to UVB it is pretty sad. I for one would rather believe someone that has proven results like Kite High here.

ok ...I have posted this before and it changed nothing as people's minds are always already made up to the point that they will refute it so this is the last time I will bother...I really dont care if you accept it or not...I just know uvb is now a permanent part of my grows

clones from same mother plant

non uvb results

uvb results

only difference in environments was presence or absence of uvb...grown in this

No these are not the aforementioned clones as I no longer have pics of those grows...this is just to show the room and that it is completely sealed and controlled
and to those who might actually like to know they were given 300-400 uw/cm2 UVB

And fuck RATMAN SAM!! that fuck works for the DEA and is only about $$$ and himself...again FUCK SAM RATMAN

Now I am done as I tire of backing up what I say...If I do not know I do not say...So when I say something it is real godfuckingdamnit

I've personally just jumped into the UVB lighting but I've spent a lot of time doing the research on all of this for a while you can find more info on these links as well.

The type of lights Kite High was recommending was being known to produce a lot of UVB was these http://www.lightyourreptiles.com/ard3t546in54.html you'll want your plants to be within 12-18" of these lights.

Hopefully this helps clear some of the facts up when it comes to using UVB. I've just started using them but I haven't flipped anything to flower I have noticed that my plants have responded well to them. I've decided to take the same path and Kite High and use them from seedlings through flower since the sun produces UVA/B I would like to replicate that as most people seem to be missing these spectrums.

No there are better ones. I currently use two 26 watt bulbs that put out 20% uvb. I do see major increase in thc but i run it differently. I do a burst mode I guess you can say. the uvb kick on for an hour then shut off for 2 hours and repeat.
If anyone is wondering what bulbs i use, i use these.

I can guarantee the 4'12% arcadia has more UVb than that CFL you posted. Its twice the wattage and has way better coverage plus T5s are more efficient than CFL tech. There is a video that compares the top CFLs for UVb and T5s with meter readings. The T5 will give you the amount of UVb you need at 12"-18" over the length of the bulb. As for the way you're running your UVb not sure why you're doing that. The sun gives off UVb/a light all the time so why wouldn't you want to duplicate what the sun does? I run mine the same as my main lighting the whole time of flower and have been running them in veg as well.

when using the eye do u switch to hps ever for any reason?
do you use side lighting with it and if yes what did you choose and why?
i have a 430w eye and use 4x 4ft t5's as side lights.
JW if there was some info regarding what spectrum t5's would add nicely onto my 430w eye
also gonna add single 2' UV t5's on a timer to run in 3- 10 minute cycles, during peak hours of the day
any recommendations as to what type i can put in a regular t5 fixture?

i've been using lithonia t5 fixtures with hydrofarm high output bulbs. I wasnt sure if this was ok?
