i have read so much about adding uvb to grows but still dont know exactly how to use it. i have a small grow and am currently only flowering 2 plants. i bought a reptisun 10.0 for a 18" florescent. i would like to add it to my grow that is on its 5 week in flower. im looking for more trichromes but not hurt the yield too much.

  1. what distance should i keep this light from my plants?
  2. how many hours a day should it be on during 12/12?
  3. should i slowly day by day give it more uvb or just jump in?
thanks :peace:

I've used UVB reptile bulbs. Only for the last 20-30 mins of the light cycle. U need a timer. Kill ur main lights 30 mins early and have the UVB only the last light they get. I keep the light close to the tops. 2 inches. I also move it to the sides, back, lower front. Wherever the buds are. UVB light damages the plant and it repairs itself thru the dark cycle. Making trichomes and thc

alright thanks. i read journals where guys are using them for the entire 12/12 with no problems. then i also hear things about dis formed buds and much smaller yields.
did you have nice results or did you even notice a difference?

run your UVB light 12/12 same as the flower cycle.
position the light Vertical with the plant.
as mentioned keep the light close to the plant.
The UVB light can even touch the plant. some of the leaves will get a little burnt here and there. It's the price you pay for increasing trichrome production.
Turn the plant 1/4 turn every couple of days. or move the light around the plant every couple of days.
Some strains will produce more trichromes than other strains. If you have a strain that's not a good trichrome producer your just wasting your time.
You won't see good results.

-OR-

You can buy some "Snow Storm" or "BloomBastic" there are others out there.
IMO- These work better than the UVB light, easier, cheaper, quicker.
Same is true with trichrome production. You won't see good results if you have a strain that's not a good trichrome producer.

Good Luck on your Grow.
