Prob not. Unlikely to have such an explosion running small batch. Looked like he had a closed loop system judging from the tanks. Hard to say either way. It's like making moonshine.... You can't just do it anywhere. There's a few rules that need to be followed strictly, and the chance of something happening is low. But, fuck around....and ....boom.

Aren't there a lot of ways to making extracts these days? Why use butane at all?

Precisely why I sold my small closed-loop and now send my product out for processing by a licensed extractor.
I press mostly but there's always a few units left over and its worth the minimal fee to have those processed in a proper lab.
