The Volcano bags are simple to use. The parts are impossible to break while dropping. High quality construction. It's not that complex at all. I've found I get longer usage from my herb out of the hotbox than I do out of the vapir. The hotbox runs right at 375F *laser temped it* while I have to crank the Vapir up to 390F, using the exact same herb. I get probably 3 - 5 highs out of the hotbox and 2 out of the Vapir, but I put less herb in the Vapir so it averages out.
As far as the volcano or the extreme vape goes I simply don't want to spend that kind of money or screw around with the bags. I like the Vapir and the Hotbox because they're both solid state (no moving parts) which means less things to break. That and the Hotbox is made in California which means if it does go bad then I can get it fixed in the US instead of having to screw around with an Indian on the other end of the phone or international shipping.
I know 5 people who have the hotbox and they all love it because it is so simple and it's even a little decorative. I'm not saying anything bad about either the Volcano or the Extreme, I've not used them so I don't know if they're good or bad. I would put the hotbox up against any other 'box' vape on the market because of the ease of use and the customer service.

If you have a problem with your Volcano, you also send it to California (Los Angeles) for repair. You talk to an American, and an American fixes your product. In my case, they fixed it for free, and shipped it back to me for free within one week.
