Hey I'm a new here and I'm doing my first grow in a short while, I've been bouncing back and fourth between an autoflower or regular but I think I'm going to go with regular but due to space issues I can't have a sperate veg and flowering place, I'm doing a stealth grow in wadrobe and was wondering if it would be good idea one I've finished vegging to swap over different types of lights rather than have an entire separate place. Would this be possible or is this just a bad idea? sorry for the newbie question just want my first grow to get as well as can be!

Absolutely. Veg in cabinet for 4-6 weeks then just switch bulbs and change timer from 18-6/24-0 to 12/12 for flower. That's how 90% of us do it. What type of light are you going to use?

Metal halide for vegging and hps for flowering, I'm growing about 6 to possibly 8 plants and was going to get both lights for 600 watts, is that overkill for them or would I need more wattage?

You could make a seperate light proof box to veg in, or take the veg plants out for an hour or two in the middle of the dark and give them some light, even if its weak light it should prevent them from trying to flower. This is the 12-1 light cycle, they get 12 hours of light and 5.5 hours dark, 1 hour light, 5.5 hours dark, and they shouldnt try to bud if you do this.

Its fine! Be very careful about veg times though, i veg for 20 days and some strains will stretch to 5-6'. I have a white russian tray that is now 4.5' at 20 day veg and 30 days at 12/12 and their still goin! They are in flood trays btw.

Yeah I don't want them to get to big so I was thinking maybe 3 weeks instead of 4, but I'll probably have a better idea once I start them. I'm going with Barneys critical kush, had my heart set on growing these for a while now just been saving the money as I want good quality and as in my given circumstances I now have to grow my own as well. I'm just literally worried about lighting really not sure if 600 watt is enough for 8, I'm being given a wardrobe so that's why I'm doing it in there plus I want it to be stealth, it's fairly big wardrobe in length so I might be able to get 8.

I would recommend to get a dimmable ballast it will let you adjust strength and i'd start with just a few plants till you see how much room they take up easier to add than have to kill some because of over crowding. before you start you're plants run the cab a few days to check temps and humidity. I guess I should of asked how big is your cab and if your going for full stealth, or just discreet? a 600 puts out a bit of heat so a fan to move the heat can be rather loud. what kind of hood you using?

I haven't got all my stuff yet for growing, I wanted to make sure everything would be okay and have a good understanding of everything before I bought anything, the measurements of the wardrobe are H167cm, W103CM, D50cm. I was thinking about putting a shelf in so I can have some at the bottom and some on the shelf but I don't think I can because of how far away the lights need to be and I don't think I would have room for it.

Oh and I'm going for pretty much for stealth as well, I'm getting an 8 inch carbon filterr rhino for ventilation and smell, I'll probably need a few fans as well. I guess the sound with the filter is not solvable really?

my 6 inch inline was really loud till I put a length of insulated ducting on the exhaust and suspended the blower from some rubber straps. But back to you original question I veg and flower in the same tent so no problems there. and I converted a old wardrobe into my cloning cab. lots of luck to ya its a great hobby.
