Veg under lights , flower under sun?

Would a plant have a better yield if you had it veg for a month or so under lights and then when switching to flower put it outside to get natural sunlight? Would the end result result in better bud or will it most likely just send it into hermi mode?

you have to time it right...
but I've always had bad luck with that....
better to keep her inside..

if you do put her outside...
do it in stages... so the cold of night doesnt shock her too bad...

Hi Tarks, not sure about better yield, but be sure to harden the plants off when moving them outdoors. So they can gradually get used to the elements (wind, light and heat/cold). 3-4 days in the shade or partial shade worked well with my 6-7 week old plants. On the other hand, I moved a clone directly outdoors (in the Sun) and it eventually wound up losing the 6 leaves it had, when it took it out. Not sure if it was a UV issue? But it recovered and bulked right up. No need to go through that stress...LOL

Good luck with your grow and keep us posted :weed:

Make the transition gradual, don't want to stress her.
all those variable you don't have control over outside come into play hard late in flowering.
Make sure to transition her outside as calyx's appear, before full blown flowering.

I think it is worth the work of moving them, I move them back and forth daily with great results. More work but you do have the advantage of the full spectrum of sunlight more UVb = better buds. You do want to use filtered sunshine to harden them off a few days.
I fail to see where this is stressful to a plant when it is done correctly, I have journals here going back the last 6 years here with this method. Granted throwing them out into direct sunshine their first couple of days would be harmful, but common sense and even limited knowledge of growing tells you this. Filtered sunlight will give you everything that you need, still much more useable light than under anything inside for the plant. I suggest depending on the strain moving them back inside each night, most of these "new strains" have had their resistence to mold bred out of them. Good Luck and Happy Growing

the sun massive yields, like people say more light the better , the sun its like using ten 1000 watt hps per plant ! so the sky is the limit on yield

I do this basically to everyone of my plants when the season begins, just not when its 'flowering time' i put them out around May every year after being under 18/6 and vegged for a few months/weeks alredi. You do NOT have to worry about them going hermi.!

It all depends on where you live. Here in sunny FL it would be no problem, north of the Mason-Dixon you would have to acclimate them to the outdoors.

Everyone else has said pretty much what you need to know about the process of the movement so I don't need to repeat that. But speaking from experience I find the yield is always larger with an outdoor grow than an indoor grow. Hope all goes well happy growing

Sunlight definitely emits more lumen than an artificial grow light can. So you will get bigger yields from a SUCCESSFUL outdoor bloom. Plus, don't forget the major factor i.e. the climate. Just saying, it's quite unpredictable some times. Make sure you know your climate. Harsh winds/rains/cold can screw things up
