Ventilation set-up == Which is the best option

Hey guys, I'm having some ventilation issues that I am trying to find the best option for.

First of all I live in an apartment where smell travels through the entire area so being stealth is of the utmost importance. In the stairwell you can literally smell what people are cooking for dinner so I want to be most certain that when I throw my ladies in flower that I don't stink up the whole place. The room is 20ft x 20ft located in the back of the apartment.

So, what I did was build a grow room within a room with a airspace in between the living door and back windows.

Well I have a few set-ups in mind but there are pros and cons with each. I would like to know what some of you apartment experienced growers would recommend

Setup 1
With my first set-up I would be taking fresh air in the house and pushing it outdoors exhausting out the back windows.
Pros: windows always make for great exhaust
Cons: I live on a busy street and to keep windows open during winter may look suspicious (I can just crack them). I do have curtains placed as well. I am worried about foggy windows in the winter. I also have to worry about heat in the grow room, as my intake will be coming from my house.

Setup 2
With this set-up I will be taking fresh air from the windows and exhausting it out in the house. Is it possible to kill 100% of odors before they are exhausted into the house. I cannot take any chances so I will get large carbon scrubbers. I even have an option to add 3 total carbon scrubbers. I will also place ONA gel containers in the airspace between the grow room and living room walls. Also I will place the containers throughout the house
Pros: The colder air from outside will cool the grow room.
Cons: There is a real potential to get caught if the odor isn't neutralized.

There is an added carbon scrubber

why not something more like this?

That way your getting fresh air and exhausting the heat outside

edit: you shouldn't need that many carbon filters, just a nice one and a good inline fan.

I didn't even think of that. I just always assumed air flow in one direction. Thanks for the idea and taking the time to make a pic!!

You think one carbon scrubber is good for a 20ft x 20ft room??? I'm really paranoid about the smell...

I could fart by the front door and I'm sure my neighbors can smell it. Luckily the grow room is in the back corner of the house....

you could put a intake and filter in the space between the living room door and the grow room door to make sure that the smell doesn't leak out

1) its better to have the intake low to the ground and definitely would be better if it was coming from the inside of the house, and the ventilation should go to the window side and be in the opposite corner high up making it easiar for the heat to escape. If you have proper ventilation heat will not be a problem...especially in the winter. You want to be careful about how many intakes and vents you have because you want a negative air flow. I dont liketo use an intake fan, just exhaust. With a negative flow your exhaust will pull fresh air into your room. I am currently growing in an apartment and dont even have an intake vent. We have 2 bathrooms so i decided to turn one into a grow room. The ventilation is already installed! What more could i ask for. Just gotta plug in the light and away I go. The best part about using this ventialtion is that it is carried all the way to the roof 7 stories up before it is expelled outside. Cant smell a thing anywhere inside except when you walk in there of course.....also forgot to mention im about week 7 into flowering
