Ain't nothing funnier than getting shut down by a chick. You gotta love anyone who tries. The last girl I tried to be smooth on just strait looked at me. That's it. Nothing. Her friends were laughing at her, cuz I was talking to her. Shit, I'm sure I looked like a fool, but fuck it... I'm proud of going down in flames like that. You never know when she'll be like "You're cute, lets go"

Props for heading out on dangerous missions lol.

And don't fret not hanging round the boards, as long as you are out there doing shit it's all good.

Well I pulled some slick line on a chic I hadn't text in a while. Ask her if I should delete her from my phone. Her response was meet me at the bar. hahah. So in the end I suppose it all pans out one way or another. Now on to my update with terrible picture quality. Damn I need a real camera. Happy Easter.

hey smooth, just read over your whole journal after joining today.
I've just started my 1st ever grow in a home - built tiny stealth tent that fits perfectly in my closet.
got a few bag seedlings a week old, waiting for new lights to come in. just wondering what your feeding yours at the moment ''coz you havent seemed to mention feeding schedules.
anyway, hopefully within the next few days when i get the hang of this i'll start my journal. Keep up the good work!

I'm running coco so I've chosen to go with Canna Coco A&B. I just use their regular feeding schedule posted on their website. Just tryna keep it simple since this is my first grow as well. What genetics are you running?

I've only just finished my first week from sprout so today they had an incredibly mild nutrient dose.
A friend has had great results with House & Garden coco so I'm gunna go with that, and they also have a huge range of enzymes and stuff. and I'm gunna stick to the H&G feeding chart too. 'only have bagseed as I wanted to get some going on the way asap so we'll see how they turn out =)

i head good things about H&G S well but I'm using Canna's coco so I figured might as well stick it out with their nutrients. I'm only using the A&B and pk13/14. I've had some good results with it so far but I'll have a better idea once I've cured. Bagseed works. I hope you get some luck on the genetics. I think mine only took 3 weeks to deliver. Just a heads up you can but your journal in your sig so you don't have to send a link every time you want someone to check out your grow.

Well this actually should have gone up Saturday night but I guess it didn't post. It happens what can I say. I should be getting my microscope in Friday so I can see how my trics are coming along. I'm hoping the Sour Cherry will finish this week. Patience young grasshopper. lol. Well the picture quality is terrible as usual but it should give you an idea where I'm at. I think what they fail to capture or maybe I failed to capture is the amount of bud right up on the screens. Damn the light for making it difficult to snap pics. lol.

Well phrased…grow twin. Lol. I think I'm going t have some staggered harves times due to the strain differences. I haven't bought scissors but I have a couple good pairs laying around. This is my first harvest and trim so I'm a little nervous on the curing and whatnot.
I have a jungle as you can see. But I was thing of chopping the top portions of them and letting the lower bud sites grow to maturity because I have a lot of undergrowth. Next time around it won't be there because I'm hoping the mainlining I do will keep it under control. Thoughts?
Do you have any curing read recommendations? I've read a few and most of them have been a combination of paper bag and jar curing after the first week of letting them hang dry. How long do you cure? It seems like its a matter of personal preference.
I plan of finishing up strong and with the look of things in the tent it shouldn't be too hard. It seems to always be a matter of patience which I have quite a bit of with respect to growing. Too bad that doesn't rub off on other walks of life. Hahah

For me, I put my buds in a cabinet to dry. There's a little air that can go it, but not much. It usually takes them 5-8 days to dry out enough for me, then I jar them. Burping a couple times a day for a bit... but that's because I put my stuff in jars a little more wet then others.

Really the only trick to the whole thing is letting them dry slow... and knowing when to take them from drying into a jar. A good rule is if the stems snap and don't just bend. Might not be a clean snap as that's maybe too dry, but just as long as they sorta break where you put pressure and not just bend.

And you are really really going to want spring action scissors. I'd order some good ones with a nice sharp point.

thanks for the tips mane…as usual. I've rad people curing for as long as a year but most common is a month of burping for the jars. How long do you burp in jars for? I was thinking like 3 weeks after the 5-8 day hang dry.

I think I got what to mean on the snapping bit. Seems similar to the distinction made when supercropping; you wanna hear that distinct sound.
I have some good fiskars spring action shears that are nice and sharp. Found out the hard day one day. lol. Nothing a bandaid couldn't fix though so dont worry. lol. I just found out my microscope is supposed to be delivered today so a new toy for me to screw around with as well. Yeeeeeaaaaaa

Id say jig nailed it. Slow it down and try to retain some moisture without having too much or too little. In the jars you can regulate this by the burping, opening when too moist and closing once it gets close to too dry, you will eventually come to a product that has just the right amount of moisture even when its sealed in a jar. If you happen to dry it too much (crumbles into powder when breaking) just toss a leaf in there and they will absorb the moisture and return to normal.
Once you get your hands on exp you will realize how simple it is :-) simple but very important, the dry and cure can make or break great bud.

Thanks guys I really appreciate the help. Where the gel would I be? Probably making more rookie mistakes than I should. I think I can get the hang of it. I think I've done fairly well so far given this is the first grow. I need to find some jars. That would probably help wouldn't it? lol. I've always felt the dry and cure is gotta be where people must pay close attention. You're directly effecting the final product. Who you got me really excited to mainline my babies I have in veg right now. They need another leaflet before I can start. So I have a lot of fun in the coming weeks. This is a great little (okay maybe not little as far as effort is concerned) hobby I've found. I'm also using taller skinner pots this next round. That way the racks for the DTW work better. I kinda want to makes reservoir and drainage system in case I need to leave for a couple days. It has kinda tied me to the house while growing.

Oh I also ran into a compatibility issue with my digital microscope and my Mac. Apparently they don't like each other well. I downloaded an app to supposedly be able to capture images. It took a couple hours to download so I'll be playing around with that tonight when I get home.

As for burping my jars... it's mainly about when I smoke them. Meaning I dry my bud and usually start smoking it then. So the jar I'm smoking on gets opened a few times a day... till it's empty. The ones I'm not smoking on, I'll burp them for 2 or 3 weeks... usually till I just forget about them. I've lost a whole jar to mold this way, so not the best plan. But yeah, I don't stress it too much.

If I was selling the stuff and I wanted it as good as it can get, I think a 45 day cure or roundabouts there is the absolute peak. After that is mellows out to be what others would think better, but I like it right around 2 months. I've had bud in jars for over 2 years and it still smoked good. Wasn't the best, gets a little stale and the high isn't 100% what it used to be, but still 80% at least.

Worst thing to do is forget about semi wet bud in a jar. Next worst is to dry too quick. And not so bad, but I don't like it is overdrying the bud before jarring. It's easy to stick a leaf or bit of stem to rehydrate as whodat says... but I don't always grow back to back, so not always a leaf handy. Other peeps use a pea sized paper towel to do the same thing.

So if I burp them as often as I pulled bud out to smoke I should be aright? Sounds like a plan to me :-)
I have to keep my cure within a certain timeframe because I have somethings planned that cannot be moved in the coming weeks.

I got my microscope to work...on my buddy's computer. lol. Thanks homie. Well there's a couple disadvantages to have a digi microscope if you don't have a steady hand as there isn't a clamp or anything so you have to focus it well coordinating holding it still. Kinda a pain in the ass. SO I have an interesting question...Would the trics on the sugar leaves mature as the bud would? If that's the case pulling one sugar leaf to examine when to chop would be easier as I can just stick the leaf to lenses cover of the microscope and just rotate the focus so I can see.

Check it out....

Easiest way to look at trichs is to cut a tiny piece off and resting the scope on the table vertically. I dont bother with trichs any longer though,, if the bud is swollen and most of the hairs are receded shes good to go IMO.

Aright I'll give that a shot. The pistils are still up on most of them. I like seeing the trics under the scope. It looks so cool. Did I hear you're gonna be chopping?
