so water just flows through the pipes or are there sprayers????? new to vertical growing sorry. and what size are the plants going to be when u flower and are u going to be use any training
yes water just flows non-stop (from start to harvest)
this is also how the water is oxegenated

I'm embarking on the vertical journey myself... I'm glad I found some others who see the efficiency of this technique. LORD OH LORD THANK YOU!!! I'm gonna be running a #HeathRobinsonLike system, I wish I could build cylindrical shapes in google sketch up cause I would post it. I'm gonna be using one 600W HPS in an octagon shaped 4 level flooded tube system. About a 4' inner diameter (just like #Heaths ;-)), I may expand a tad largert and veg my clones a bit before throwin them into the "octaflower". Haha. If anyone wants to see the grow journal I'm gonna have let me know! Should be germinated/vegging by late June early July. This will be my first grow, but not only am I passionate I am well "calendered" and educated....

Hey, it is water being constantly recirculated over the roots and back into the reservoir, no sprayers. The key is to have quick moving water so that the turbulence and splashing about aerates the water enough so that your roots will have plenty of dissolved oxygen all the time. The plants will be about 8" tall when I flower, and yes, I'm putting a screen in to train them.

hey let me start by saying i love your grow room, i was actualy designing basicly the exact same setup myself but with dual 1000W. anyways i got a few questions if you dont mind, how exactly did you plan for how far to put the plants away from the light and how do you know when you start growin em they might not get to big and close? and if they do how do you plan to compensate for it? also kinda same question as before but the height from 1 level to the other, im just tryna get a better idea of how to do proper measurements for when i actualy make mine. and 1 more question should i top my plants on a vertical grow?
thanks duff, I'm proud of it. :blsmoke: I used a light meter on another grow to measure the intensity of the light over my most dense and best looking buds, measured the distance, and went from there. Ended up being from 18-24" from center of bulb is optimal when the light is kept cool. I made the levels 8" apart, which will allow the plants about 1 foot of height until they reach the base of the next plant. That way, I'll veg until they are about 8" tall, then flower so they'll be about a foot tall, after stretching and training. You could top them if you wanted wider, shorter plants, but I just trim the branches that grow away from the bulb so all the energy is distributed to the parts getting direct light. I know that if I train for the first 2 weeks of flower, then let the buds grow in toward the light, it will fill up my canopy and the buds will hopefully only get about half way to the light, which is fine since it's air cooled.

Hey, I'm glad to see your passion! My only thoughts would be to not plan on vegging longer if you'll be using 4" pvc as if you veg any longer than a week, you risk choking the system with big roots. Check out about minute 5:45 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8Z1-q2cZes&feature=player_embedded#at=61. Heath vegged these for a week and his roots were as big as I would want them in a 4" tube.

so you are going to get well over a pound from 1 600w light

Yeah, I'm hoping for 1.5g/w which would be 1800g or about 4lbs. However, I'm not claiming I'm gonna get that, it's an experiment so I may only get .5g/w but that is unlikely. 1g/w would be just fine with me.

So, I've misplace my camera... but an update: I have 10 golden goat plants in the bottom level that were vegged for about two weeks. They are into flowering 7 days, and are growing like weed ;) The roots are absolutely exploding. They are putting off lateral roots all over and they are growing like 3 feet down the tube, its intense, I'll get pics soon. Vegging my hash plant clones for a few more days then gonna throw them in the top 2 levels.

Hey everyone sorry for the delay. I don't have a camera at the moment, but everything is moving along extremely well. I'm back in Arkansas at the moment for a funeral of a good friend of mine who was killed this past week in one of the storms you've probably all heard about by now. One of my best friends since kindergarten, Courtney, was sitting at a stop light in traffic and was killed by a tree that was blown over on top of her car. It's just another reminder that we should all be living our lives to the fullest, and never take one second for granted, because you never know when your time has come.

Anyway... I'll be home monday. My roommate has been keeping my reservoir topped up, and that's about all that is necessary at the moment, but when I get back I'll be pruning a little to focus the newly stretched growth inward toward the lights. Ive been snipping all branches growing away from the light toward the outside of the circle. This is the same idea as pruning all the undergrowth in a horizontal scrog. I originally put 11 Golden goat clones that were vegged for about 2 weeks in on May 20th and then I added 25 Hashplant clones for a total of 36 plants. The system can hold 48 but my cloner only has 30 sites, so I just vegged each out for about 5 days so they'd take up a little more space. The Golden Goat, being about a 9-10 week plant is just ending its stretch and the hash plants, which my friend tells me is about a 7 week plant, should be done stretching in a few days. They will all be done at the same time, around july 19th. It's all looking good, I cant wait to see the yield. I don't know what to expect yet, but I can't see why 1.5g/w (4lbs) would be out of the question here.

Finally, an update. Sorry for the wait, don't have a good camera as I sold mine a few weeks back and haven't bought a new one yet. So... There are 2 strains, golden goat which is taking up 13 sites and the rest are 'hash plant' although im not sure about that. I thought hashplant was a bushy one, but this one has stretched like crazy. Anyway. The goat is 30 days in and the hash plant is 19 days, and they should come down on or around the same date. These photos are a little weird cuz the camera isn't great, but you can see whats going on.

Thanks, the plants all take up about a square foot each after training them with the screen. The hash plant ended up getting a little bigger than i would have liked, but I had to be gone for a few days (which happened to be days 7-14 of flower so I wasn't able to prune them like I would have, which keeps them much bushier and stockier. As a result I had to top a few of the hash plants, as some of them had really stretched. I don't like topping in flower, but it doesn't seem to have too much of a negative effect, provided you do it before they start to bulk up.

these are cool, i like the design, it's a little expensive, however. Costed me about 15% of the cost for the turnkey system, and was relatively simple to build. Took about 4 hours. Except the reflective tape, that took a few movies to get through. The wood frame was for kicks, but you could slap the whole system with pvc parts for the flooded tube and stand with 8 levels for less than $200. But if you got it, buy one.

Hey guys, here's some more pics to show the progress. They're looking amazing, with still 3 weeks to go until chop! Can't wait...

First is the Golden Goat on the lower level, 11 days ahead of the hash plant on the upper 2 levels.

Here's a nice bud...

Here is a look through at some hash plant from the back. It stretched quite a bit so I had weave them

Looking up from the bottom. Notice how the upper plants have reached the roof and are leaning in and over... creating a cool 'egg' shape canopy for a little extra light usage?
