Im seeing more and more growers going vertical these days. I've been growing vertically for 2 years now, and I wouldnt grow any other way (for flower). So lets see some of those vertical grows, and lets spread some knowledge about this awesome way to grow.

All you need is a grow that has the plants surrounding a bulb hung vertically in the center. You just need 1 bulb and 1 plant, but more bulbs and more plants are definetley welcome. Invention is a start, but inovation will never end.

These are my lovely ladies at 4 weeks 12/12.

Hey seedless, figured I'd see if there's any more interest on this.

Here's my vertical grow which is in a 5'X5'X7'tall room. It's currently soil since I wanted to give it a shot without breaking the bank but will be converted to hydro over the next couple of months as plants clear out and make room for the components.

The first few pics are of when I was putting it together and the last 3 were taken a few days ago.

Thats a sweet looking vert right there. The plants are looking healthy and tasty. The only thing I would change would be the ballasts right next to each other, I try to leave at least 6" between ballasts...but thats just the electrician in me. How many plants can you fit on the shelves if you stick with the same pot size?

Thank you.

With the shelves that are there I could do about 18 but one wall only has one short shelf on it right now because there's the autos and the RBC that are tall sitting along that wall. If I put the other shelves in so all walls were the same it'd be about 28 plus there's 6 on the floor right now. If I was to stay with soil though, I'd like to use 2gal pots instead of 1gal and I'd lose a few plants on the count. I was considering staying with soil after first putting in the shelves and doing a drip system but I'm not too sure of drip schedules and then I'm not sure how I'd add nutes on feed days. It seems complicated, more so than doing hydro. There was another idea I had which was to keep the shelves and put trays on them for a E&F using pots with hydroton since I already have a bunch of the pots and hydroton.

I want to move the ballasts since the location is proving to not be as good of an idea as I thought it was. I'm going to move them to the other side of the dividing wall so they'll be in the veg room then. They'll also be end to end so I can keep them closer to the dividing wall.

That's cool. I thought about doing that before going vertical but ended up going this route. No particular eason, just didn't go with the hanging plants.

Keep us updated on the vert. I love checking out other peoples ideas and work.

mrduke - what is the ceiling height in your room, and what is the diameter of the vertical setup you will have. The cat that taught me about growing, has a 6' diameter x 4 tier x 9' tall with 3 1000w bulbs. He pulls some serious weight off his, 4 1/2 lbs plus.

That second one looks a lot like the one Bob Smith has here in RIU. Check through Seedless' vert grow thread and you'll see his posts. One of them has a pic of his and he has a thread of his own as well.

strickly- no they will be stationary spaced 2' apart so the grow will be 3-8' shelves on both sides of the lights. the room is a total of 7wide 11.5 long and 7 tall

surprisingly they're at week 2 of flowering and haven't really moved toward the light too much. they're extremely close as it is so maybe they figured leaning wasn't needed lol. I did have to tie my LSD because she got too tall for the light to hit the top
