If you took a mortgage out on the house it could have been an occupany certification. The Documents you sign at closing tell you they can do this for the 1st year. Most lenders are contracting with the city to do these inspections. Becuase of the foreclosure rates across the country the lenders are doing this now more than ever to prevent fraud losses (saying you live in the home when you don't) Recently a bank was ripped off for 91 mil on 100 homes in Cali that when they showed up to foreclose the homes did not exist.

Ok, heres the deal its 1 in the afternoon and I'm woken up by a man knocking on my door. He says he is doing a property assessment and already checked the exterior of my house. He claims he was doing this because my home was built recently by me and my father and they do this on new homes. My house was completed about 8 months ago.
So he proceeds to ask me a few questions, how many bedrooms...bathrooms...etc. I answer all of his questions and he finally says ok thats all. Then he finishes up by measuring my front porch...he made the same measurement 2-3 times but in a different way, I thought that was weird.
Ok the problem with that is I have 11 plants growing right on my fucking back porch. I dont know if he walked around back though. I also just ordered shroom spores about 4-5 days ago.
Anyways guys what the fuck do I do!!!!! I am seriously freaking out, every noise I hear im thinking cops are gonna either knock on or smash down my door.

Did you say you recently built your home? He may be legite if you need to have the property assed for taxes. About a year after our house was built they came and did they same thing. Now you will get an assesment back telling you how much they value your home at and what you will pay for taxes etc. I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe try conceal your grow a bit better out there. I would bet he's legit. YOU know the plants are there and we always tend to over-react. We all need to exercise care with our grow, but beware of paranoia as well.

Where I live if you have a no trespassing sign up then you can shoot trespassers on the spot.
For instance in the right areas here where I live If I saw someone in my back yard un announced I would fire a warning shot first.

I had an appraiser come to my house one time back when i was growing in my room. You could smell the plants a lil bit and nothing happened to me thankfully. The guy looked like a stoner anyway though haha.
