don't sweat it bro. Just get yourself a good filter/fan combo and don't do any trimming before they come. You'll be good.

and if you are still worried cook some bacon or barbeque like someone suggested.

cover smells will do what you need for sure for any errant smell...which shouldn't be a problem anyway with the filter/fan and a good neg. pressure.

thanks i just got back from the hydro store and talked to the guy there hes pretty decent about things. and he said the same thing.. but i think for now im gonna get the fan and filter set up. and do up my room better.. harvest out what i have.. maybe start another grow of bag seed. so atleast if i have to chop um down it didnt cost me for the seeds.. and do some veggies to start for my garden like i did last year.. either way if its weed or veggies and they smell any veggitaion there gonna get suspicious. so filtering it out isnt going to hurt.. im only growing 3 plants at the most 4 weed plants. so im hoping that the filter and the ona will be efficiant enough to take care of all the smell.. now on the other hand ,,,, i need to worry about the sound... any ideas

Just kidding. In reality having it behind a locked door is a brilliant idea. Child's access being limited is a good idea period.

i origaly locked the door cause he would sleep walk,, and would go into this room. in the middle of the night. pitch black full of spider webs the what not... now that was funn searching your kid in the middle of the night to find him in a room like that with the door closed mid you.. but we showed him where he was going when he slept walked and he is terrified of that room now.. so honestly lock and fear.. he wont go near it ....lol kids closet....

oversize your filter and fan and slow the fan down to around half speed.

also add some insulated flex duct to the outlet of fan and upsize duct several sizes.

also wrap several wraps of insulation around the fan itself and the outlet.

make sure it doesn't touch any walls or anything to transmit vibrations.

if you are limited on funds upsizing fan/filter will be a problem though. Just buy the biggest combo you can afford.

and shit i guess if i should stop doing illegal things, lol i guess i should stop tattooing outa my house.. i pay 90% of the bills like this.. so i guess thats a good idea. also.. sorry had to be a smart ass.. and before anyone can get on there high peddistal over that .. im licensed and have all the proper equipment to do it properly, i also went through a 4 year apprenticship. its just against state law to tattoo outa your home.. but i hold better standards then most shops. where im at theres a shop on every street corner. high priced dope heads that spread infection.. i refuse to be a part of it....

ok food for thought there.. my grow room is 11' x8'x7' the grow guy suggested a 6 inch at min and a 400 cfm filter. does that sound about right to you???

i'd go 8x36 with that fan if I could but cost will be prohibitive for you it sounds.

again, get the biggest filter you can afford. It won't be wasted money. Bigger filters are quieter, do a better job of filtering, and last longer

yeah the set up that the grow guy said is 220 out the door, and he said something about he would throw in a prefilter, but thats just to keep dust off the carbon filter isnt it.. will the 6 inch set up work you think or do i positively have to go bigger

i'm sure it'll work..you will most likely want to put a rheostat on the fan to slow it down for sound control.

and yes the prefilter is just for dust.

I like the cooking food idea to help cover the smell...Heck, you could even burn some toast on purpose - that would really stink up the joint...

I know how you feel OP....My gf has a psycho son who blackmailed us basically once my plant got bigger...He knew he had us by the balls with the authorities...I got sick and tired of it so I went and cut my beautiful plant down early, then kicked his ass out of the house. Pot was still pretty good even though it had a ways to go.

alot of this is because for some reason the feds stopped production of a med that he was on, called focalin. theres tons of pissed of parents. anyways ever since the medication got stoped he has been outa control. kicking and hitting our animals and calling us every swear word under the sun. hitting and kicking us. weve tryed taking things away, punishment. weve even spanked his ass good. and he laughs at us. so the dr put him on antipsyhcotics in wich im not at all happy about. but what can a person do.. its effecting him in school work when he is a gifted student. so its not like were doing this cause he is a lil hyper, like some parents do. theres a problem lol.. honestly my wife keeps begging me to make edibles and give it to him. but i have a hard time with that cuzz if they found that they would hit me harder than if i was just growing....

i like how some people get all like justified and shit cuz you mention something about a kid and shit.. but honestly if you was that justified dude you wouldnt be on this site doing something illegal in the first place. i came on here to get good sound advice from a community that doesnt judge about the use of cannabis. in case you didnt already know this... this is a site relating to growing and useing cannabis... ive made my mind up and have seen peoples advice.. and im takeing it all in... so others can stop being i guess the way they are.. im going to install a carbon filter, and do some sealing up work, im gonna finish up my grow. and grow veggies till this blows over.. maybe some bag seed till i know for sure that the counslers are even gonna come. by law they cant just show up, and if they did i dont by law have to let them in the house. and now that its getting to be nice out,,, theres no reason for them to go in the house.. but anyways this is what im doing so if someone has a problem with it ,, im sorry for the bannana that is stuck up your butt. you should use lube next time... still looking for ideas and design ways for the system.. thanks

well the real question is... where are you venting your exhaust? Technically there should be no smell if all the air that travels through the grow room is vented outside because it can only passively draft in and not out i.e. negative pressure. So are you venting it back into the house? Best suggestion would be to put a good carbon filter in the duct and have strong ventilation blow everything outside the house. There are some strains that are bred specifically to be low on aroma, so you may want to check into that.

ok since yesterday ive went out and got a 6 inch fan, and a carbon filter. so ive just put it together and puged it in and im letting it scrub the room, and so far you cant smell shit. its a little noisy but ive seen some diy boxes that are suppose to help with the sound, any one got any expeirance with this. im looking for a cheep solution at the moment cuz i just droped 250 on the scrubber..

wrap insulation around the fan and add a short 2' piece of insulated flex duct to the outlet...this will quiet it down substantially.

If this isn't good enough put a dimmer switch on it
