Very short plants, where did I go wrong?

So I'm sitting here smokin hash, eating instant noodles with beef flavouring and wondering why two of my plants never really took off.

6-7 (!) weeks veg under 400w MH and now 3 wks flowering and these two are 13-15 inches. This will unfortunately affect yield which is ok since this is my first grow where you are supposed to learn from your own mistakes, but I don't know what the lesson was people.

These are C99, grown from seed in soil, but they look more like Lowryders (right?). The third C99 is almost 30 inches but all plants were treated the same.

I dunno.... I think they look fine and healthy. You are only at week 3 of flowering.... still plenty of time for those girls to grow taller.

What size is your pot? Looks like a 3 gallon.... may want to consider a 5 gallon next time????

they look alright for first grow think about yield next time
bigger pots would help
once u crack yield then you would want quality next then you would want more yield and more and more til your growing in a huge fatory

Heh...neat idea, I guess. But to be honest, I just wanted shitloads of weed for my vacation ;)

You think so? I've lost hope on this, but I hope you're right.

Yup you're right, 3 gallon it is. I really thought that would be sufficient. 5 gallon bucket considered for next time, thanks.

So, 3 gallon pots was the culprit this time, is that the verdict? Sorry to be bitching but I really need to understand so I don't fuck up the next grow. No other things could've done this?

Im not sure if your pot size is really the problem. I am using 3 gallon pots on my first grow and my plants are close to 4 feet tall. It might be the strain is just short but I dont know. Heres some pics of my plants and they are in 3 gallon pots.

Did you use MH for entire grow or did you switch over to HPS for flowering? If you used MH for entire grow that definitely could be a contributing factor.

Nah, switched to HPS 400w two weeks into flowering. The other two plants, also a C99 and a NYCD took off like crazy when i flipped the timer on.

i dunno if its the pots because mine were only vegged for 3 weeks and then now been flowering 1 week and they were over 1ft tall before I started flowering. course it all depends on your strain and stuff like that. Im just growing bag seed so who knows what strain it is. i wouldnt stress too much theres still plenty of time for them to get taller.

Yes but look at the difference in your plants and the posters. Yours have considerably more stretch then the posters. No that's not meant to be an insult... just the truth... look at the difference. The poster has a nice tight bushy plant with little stretch to it at all.... which is typically the way we desire a plant to be.

Height isn't everything. The original poster's plants look very healthy and have P-L-E-A-N-T-Y of time yet in the grow to get bigger.

EACHNEWHOUR: Height isn't everything... your plants look healthy... that's what's important. Looks like you are doing a good job so far. Do consider the bigger pot next time if you have the space for them.

How Far Into The Grow Are You AP?
Those pics are from about 10 days into flowering and about 5 weeks total.

Yea, I wasnt saying his plants looked unhealthy at all, or that mine were better, I just dont think the pot size is whats keeping his plants short. It probably has more to do with the strain because 3 gallon pots are plenty big enough.
