we were closing down a base in thailand. things were getting weird as the thais knew we were leaving and that meant a lot of people without work. samlow and taxi guys were getting aggressive...it was time to leave.

when the jet was taking off, it seemed that most of the guys started cheering and singing something or other (fly robin fly i think?).

i was happy but not because we were leaving - i had swallowed a bunch of something and had just been alerted on by a drug dog before boarding. the dog pushed my upper stomach with his snout. the handler said the dog was probably alerting on my camera film, which he grabbed and destroyed. thanks for not busting me, fuck off for killing my final pics of my favorite country. great weed, our money went a long way, pretty girls, great weed, good food, great weed, lots of places to party for cheap, great weed... what's not to like? i didn't even miss tv. it was that fun.

Brother in law #2 had eat a handful of ludes the night before he was leaving the east Asian conflict because of the drug dogs. Buddies walked him up and down the barracks all night, then he slept for several hours of the flight home the next morning. (he did come home with a monkey on his back)

He said the week before he was to leave, his local woman stole everything in their apartment. But he kind of knew that was included in the price of the companionship.

"Davis was nominated for the Medal of Honor in 1965; however, the Army lost the nomination. In 1969 an inquiry was ordered and it found no record of the original nomination. The nomination was resubmitted and lost again. It has been suggested that racism was a factor, given that Davis is African-American."

The presentation date has not been announced.

"The 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion was a unique U.S. Army unit and it had the distinction of being the only all-African American, all-female unit sent overseas during World War II. The women kept mail flowing to nearly seven million soldiers in the European Theater of Operations (ETO). On February 28, 2022, the House of Representatives voted unanimously to award the Congressional Gold Medal to the Six Triple Eight"

They took them out in...92ish? Had one lock on to a fighter escort once because they are radar controlled, not a good thing. Someone accidently turned on one of the EW systems on the ramp at Edwards once, knocked out all communications in Calcity for awhile.
Our CPO mess was hosted by a Canadian Navy ship once & they told about an incident where one of their guys was tossed from a upscale waterfront bar for being hammered - he went back to the nearby ship & turned on the air search radar that knocked out computers & cc terminals for blocks.

I was watching this docu-drama (well done) from 1998 that I had not seen before and as I do, was Googling various things and came across this memorial on the Moon that I didn't know of or remember called "The Fallen Astronaut". Most if not all the 14 were military.
