I'm not much of a chess player - backgammon is my thing.
I remember being in NYC for a military school & playing the sharks in central park. I went like 20 - 1 on several opponents. Those guys were really good too.

A Vietnam War veteran places his hand on “The Moving Wall” at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington during Honor Flight San Diego’s “Tour of Honor,” April 27, 2024. A small group of former Navy SEALs and members of Naval Special Warfare’s active force volunteered to escort 90 Vietnam War veterans on a three-day trip to Washington, honoring their service and visiting the memorials built for their sacrifice. Heh, thought I'd pass this along.

Veterans can get a free lifetime pass to national parks. I was in Death Valley last weekend and the Park Ranger there told me about it. Check it out at this link. I filled out the form (uploaded a copy of my DD214) and got it in the mail today.

PS I was an EM and NCO for three years in the 82nd then Benning School for Boys and three years as an officer so I get a chuckle out of folks ragging on officers.

My take on it - there's plenty of stupid to go around but it is a lot harder to work around a lousy officer than a lousy NCO. No argument from me on that.
