Had to go the county assessor's office this am to convince them to give me my property tax credit. (Thanks for the letter VA) Tried to see if my VA disability would transfer over to a SS disability - Nada, (I'm too old) but I tried.

On one of my trips to the desert we had a special Christmas meal that included king crab legs. About a month prior the people in charge of the chowhall decided it was easier to provide plastic silverware as opposed to washing metal utensils. Plastic forks don't last long when cracking crab legs, so I had to use my trusty old timer knife to break into them. I did loan it to my table mate but I kept a close eye on it. Logistics folks, logistics.

This was holiday adjacent. Maybe just before Christmas when we were leaving the Med and heading to the IO. Anyway, I was working in the light shop (think 110v as opposed to 220v) on the Saipan, and we had a trouble call at the Chief's Mess. They had a problem with lights tripping a breaker. But while we were there, we noticed there was two and a half boxes of lobster tail in their reefer unit. It took a while to find and replace the shorted ballast, but we got them going again. We also got about ten pounds of their lobster tail. Had to cook them in a modified coffee pot, but we already had that technology down pat.

I don't recall seeing lobster in an Army mesh hall... ;)
