If that method of germinating your seeds isn't working for you, why not try a different method. You may find the paper towel way works better for you... about a month ago I cracked 25 seeds from attitude using paper towels, and all of them are growing right now...give it a shot.. my first time I threw 10 Northern lights in a glass of water (as per Dr. Greenthumb's video.) and got 2 crack.. I did paper towel method on 10 cali orange, and got 10 to pop.. so I do it that way cause I can get it to work for me.

Yeah I have had success using paper towel methods and still using shitty seeds(Bagseed) and probably 15 out of 18 popped, used the best looking one of course though ;)

How long do you set them in the water? most people say give them 24 hours. And then after that if it hasn't cracked, use the paper towel. The temp controls some of how quickly the plant will germinate too. I just put a seed into a shot glass filled with water yesterday and already it has popped open.

i've never bought into the floaters equals non viable seeds myself as i have germed a lot of seeds, and sometimes some of them float while others sink immediately, and the ones that float seem to do just as well as the sinkers from what i've seen.. i don't know where this myth has come from, but i've heard it before, but it just doesn't seem to play out from what i've noticed thus far.

There's a little truth to it a little myth. The float test works more for garden variety seeds but not so much for hulled seeds like mj. It's meant to determine if a seed has an embyro inside or not but since MJ has some oil inside they tend to float. Very mature seeds may have enough density to sink though, and they all should sink when they've gotten saturated enough to sprout. Just give them a tap after 12hours or so and they'll drop.
