no one ever listens to me. THIS IS NOT A DEBATE. you don't like guns? don't live here!!!!

Amendment II

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

The Bill of Rights --:: The Bill of Rights Institute ::---

there is NOTHING you can do about it. this is what our country was FOUNDED on. we can not change these rules.

just my opinion.

I don’t know what fantasy world you’re living in, but as soon as I find out, I’m buying a first class ticket there. To say the result will be the same, but it might take a little longer, is a debate in itself. Okay, lets say the result will be the same, for the next 20 years should innocent law abiding citizens not be allowed to protect themselves, while criminals still have access to guns!?!? Come on, let’s try and be a little reasonable here with our assumptions. The whole point is that, I do believe that in states like Virginia, there should be a much more stringent background checks when buying a gun, but to just ban guns is just completely unrealistic.

Not everyone has a big dog to deter burglars. And not everyone wants to chase a burglar out of there house without some kind of insurance or back up. There are other types of weapons that burglars can carry, like knives. So, I guess I should just make a quick stop by my kitchen and pick up my biggest knife so I can give this honorable burglar a fair fight, knife on knife. Why in the hell should I have to take that risk? Some degenerate is breaking into my house, and I am not taking any chances.

And let’s not loose track of what we are talking about. This isn’t only about burglars; you seem to be fixated on burglars…. this is about crazy people, rapist, and many more of society’s degenerates. Where I live there are many home invasions every year, where inhabitants are attacked. Yes, it isn’t commonplace, but it does happen. So why shouldn’t I be allowed to keep a gun in my bedroom if that day ever comes???
Not everyone has a big dog, so you buy a gun instead? Yeah, right. Why can't everyone just get a big dog? I'm using burglars as a generalisation, saves me mentioning all the others at the same time. If you'd read my previous posts properly you would note that I have already answered your question at least three times. Rapists will not have access to guns, just like you wouldn't.

You honestly believe that you would be able to defend yourself from an invasion (of the criminal kind)? By prohibiting guns you would take them out of the hands of these petty criminals. For a start they wouldn't be able to afford one. And the psycho's wouldn't have the connections to get a hold of one... they'd most likely just get robbed if they tried.

OK ... here's a challenge for you guyz:

Do some research on the school shootings and the role anti-depressant drugs have played in those shootings. I think that you anti-gun types might want to refocus on what should be outlawed. Guns are NOT the problem. The demented mind caused by the adverse effects of anti-depressant drugs are the problem.

LOL, that's a twisted view of the situation. It's not the drugs Vi', but peoples minds. The drugs are designed to try and cure them of these type of urges. The mind is demented in the first place hence the need for the drugs. Unfortunately some of them don't take their med's, or mix other drugs into the equation.

My 2 bob...
guns dont kill people, people kill people,
i think its a social problem were people of the community arnt getting the support and help they need, be it mental, emotional whatever. people generally arnt born messed up they slowly get that way. if you can stop or slow this then there wouldnt be as many crazy shootings. Family, community, these are the things needed to be address not guns or drugs BUT support and family enviroment, trust, caring, LOVE.

You are naive if you think that criminals won't be able to get guns if they really wanted them. Thats the bottom line. What you can't seem to comprehend is that fact that the gun situation in the US is completely different. THERE ARE ALREADY TOO MANY GUNS IN CIRCULATION IN THE USA!! What part about that don't you understand??? You can just outlaw guns and fix the problem. That's the problem with so many idealists in this country, they have these great ideas in theory; but when put into practice it just doesn't work.

Its very simple. You outlaw guns now and law abiding citizens have to turn them in or can't by them. But what about the millions and millions of guns already in circulation and already in the hands of bad people. Come on man, enough with the fantasy world.... please!!

Fuck off. Bottom line... lol. I am a fucking criminal, been one for most of my life. THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF CRIMINALS. The criminals that could get hold of the guns are not the type that are going to kill a classroom full of schoolkids... that's the BOTTOM LINE. The people that do this are the feel-sorry-for-themselves type, the ones that believe for some fucking reason the world owes THEM something. Little pussies that could never stick up for themselves, the fear of confrontation too much for them they have to buy guns and go on killing sprees just to show the world how much pain they are in.

I undersdtand every fucking word, why ask a stupid question like that? GUN AMNESTIES, GOVERNMENT BUY THE GUNS NO QUESTIONS ASKED. It's funny really because that argument was used over here at first too, the already too many guns thing. It was put into practice and worked. It would in your country too.

Its very simple. You outlaw guns now and law abiding citizens have to turn them in or can't by them. But what about the millions and millions of guns already in circulation and already in the hands of bad people. Come on man, enough with the fantasy world.... please!!
AS above, and also several times in many of the other posts I've written on the subject. In fact, I believe I may have said it to YOU quite a few times now. Shall I make it bold this time?

GUN AMNESTIES, WHERE THE GOVERNMENT BUY THE GUNS OFF PEOPLE, NO QUESTIONS ASKED.

So, you know guys that wouldn't sell a $2, 000 weapon for $10, 000?

I know what you mean, and I get every word. I'm merely offering a difference of opinion, that doesn't mean I don't see your point.

I think the question about where the money is going to come from is probably the (easiest?) one I could answer (aside from going through price lists and trying to determine what your government would deem a fair price to pay).

How much does your Government spend every year on gun crime? I'm not one for trawling through sites to find stats, but I know it's a lot... maybe billions of your dollars every year. You have police man hours, equipment, imprisonment etc, etc... All these things cost money. If gun crime were to be slashed by 3/4, the initial spending would pay great dividends.

What I really can't understand is the belief that owning a gun somehow makes you safer. Yes, the fact that YOU own a gun, and they are everywhere, means that anybody else could have one too. Including the two-bit junkie crawling through bedroom windows at night. If you take the guns out of circulation, you take it out of their hands too.

Owning a gun, I imagine, has been the worst decision of some people's lives. Unless you sleep with it under your pillow, your own weapon could be used against you.

i personally don't own a gun.
getting the government to spend money on something to the good of people is silly. look at pot laws and the money spent on "the war on drugs". they could be taxing it and making money, yet they chose to spend money fighting a loosing battle.
i do see you point and can agree to an extent but i think it is just to late for that. maybe over a long period of time. San Fransisco HAS BANNED ALL personal firearms. this will be a good place to watch.

This is the only thing you have ever said that makes any sense, and I agree with 100%.

Now that you have made it abundantly clear to everyone on this message board that you are of below sub par intelligence, I will answer you’re quick question. I ask stupid questions to people that make it obvious that they are incapable of thinking on a more complex, realistic level.

Of course, why would we expect more from a criminal. You still have not made one point that gives any evidence or sense of understanding on how any of the idealistic plans for gun control will work. Yes, some will be bought up by the government, and criminals will rush to sell there guns right? Because that’s just the way it will work right? Not to mention that the government will be more than willing to shell out the cash… Lets forget about the continuous obvious flaws in your argument, I’m sick of pointing them out ever other second. YOU STUPID FUCK. Keep it real RETARD. Keeping it real is what you do best, isn’t it? You have made that clear…. Thanks for the useful insight.

I’m more than happy to debate over something, but you are obviously just an old burn out, who is too stuck in his ways to look at the bigger picture. I can’t waste anymore time with that.

The issue is, that even if you were to ban guns, anti-social people will find ways to act out. Using 9/11 as an example, hijackers were able to keep people at bay with box cutters...

the logical step after banning guns is to ban anything that can cause another person harm. The fact of the matter is that in any social contract, there will always be an element that prays on those people looking for order...

The answer to things like school shootings isnt gun control, its reworking the system to identify people with issues early on. Everything this korean kid did speaks of issues and, to me anyway, are blatant red flags. Vtech didn't do anything because to them it was the states duty to evaluate mental state. And because his parents were still paying the tuition.

It just shows you that being overly politically correct can be equally alienating as racism and stereotyping, because it creates a picture of what is normal. No one is normal in a country as diverse as the US...
