Vortex/ Jet engine

I'm in need for a few good ideas. I just hooked up my Vortex fan with a Odorsok filter. I'm drawing in air through the filter and using the exhaust to cool my 400 MH/HPS lights. I vented up into the attic space to a roof dormer. I used six inch insulated ducting, to cut down on the sound from air movement. I built a interior door lined with 1"1/4 stirafoam insulation. My problem. When both the doors are closed it still sounds as if a jet plane is landing....

I had a inline fan that was too loud too. I just went ahead and purchased the S&P mixvent and sold the last one

What's the cfm on the mixvent? I have 640 feet of air that I got move around, that's why I went with something that puts out 449 cfm.

You really need to mount that thing on bungy cords to dampen the vibration. Rather than a solid fixed mount to the ceiling, you need 4 to 6 rubber straps to hang it from. They will dampen the vibrations that the fan transfers to the ceiling. Moving that much air is going to make some kind of noise. I have heard of people putting fan controllers or "dimmers" if you will, to lower the speed of the fan thus lowering the sound, but some complain that the fans make a funny noise when the juice is limited by the dimmer/controller

Edit: I have also seen people build a sound deadened box out of wood, around the fan with, just the filter out of one end and the Vent hose out the other. That was hung by 4 rubber straps as mentioned above to deaden the noise even more. It could work.
