WAITING SUCKS!!! last few weeks post your girls :)

Here are some shots of the Big Bud XXL I'm growing outdoors. It's been a strange strain for me to grow. I triggered flowering early by manipulating the photolight period to 12/12 at the end of July. According to the pistols below, this girl looks ready to harvest. White pistols are changing to red, but according to the girth of the buds and the trichome colors, this plant has to go longer BUT when I wait (as I did with an earlier plant as seen in photo 2 and 3), all the hairs completely shrivel up and it's messing with my head making me think I'm letting this girls mature too long.

1st photo: pistols starting to change. looks like a naked eye cue to consider harvest.
2nd photo: letting the girls mature more, buds are getting fatter and trichomes are still clear BUT the pistols have all basically shriveled up and are not even visible.
3rd photo. Decided to harvest this girl two days ago. Trichomes were more or less cloudly, a few amber BUT absolutely no pistols remain, but all the buds were hairy monsters early on.

Do you think this is the normal maturation process for some strains and in particular the Big Bud XXL strain? Any thoughts on this?

Yeah, you completely go by trichomes? I try to as well though there is a side of me that is worried about taking this already couch-like Indica/Sativa hybrid too long and having it lose that head high quality. I have a decent microscope but I still find it a bit difficult to see a striking difference between clear and cloudy, amber is a bit easier. Have you ever had strains that completely lose their pistols as the buds start fattening up? If there weren't such a thing as letting weed go too long! ;-)

It's harder man but mine always seems better the longer I wait to harvest just seems like it's more potent sometimes it'll trip a little bit but that's what I like... :-)

But no mine don't usually shrivel up and disappear tho

Everyone is an expert but major Atta-Boys to those heros who can stand proudly next to their successful grow. Extra cool how some folks got them plopped down in the backyard under the neighboor Master bedroom.
Looks like all types of growing are represented. Folks done good!!!!:weed::weed:
My heart goes out to you guys whoes grows for whatever reason were a complete bust. It's such a freakin crap shoot. Oh for the days I can grow just for the fun of it and not have to worry about anything but the growing.
Keep showing those pics guys. I'm sporting wood.

Thank you....:)

Oh yeah you should be tying em up, in fact Ive tied mine 3x already and they still dropping alot! I think if you don't tie up they can break or fall over!!! In fact I tied them really early and you really can't see they are tied up cuz they grow over. I just wrapped the durban for the 3rd time yesterday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5P1D-qKq1s8

The 3 that are almost done are Blockhead, the other one with whitehairs is about 2 weeks into flower is Storm, Durban poison just started flowering maybe a week ago.

I'm harvesting on saturday. I planted these from seeds on May 15 th. This is my second year growing. The branches of the tall one are collapsed due to the weight of the buds. The small one is tipping over for the same reason (I guess). I'm really really excited.
looking good, love the profile pic :P

Down to my last few weeks.. First grow.
looking good dude, really nice for first grow u did something right

ok i said i would post some updated pics of my girls up and finally got to getting some pics.

they should be in order from right to left in the first pic.

the biggest one i think has about 4-5 weeks left, it is a different strain than the other 2 and seems to have a longer flowering period.

the 2 smaller ones i am flushing this coming sunday and giving them 2 more weeks (maybe more depends how they look by then)

when i harvest the smaller 2 i will flush the big one out and then 2 weeks later she will come down.....i hope.

ill reply to my first pics in thread so you can see how much they have grown. :leaf:

are these indica or sativa dominant?
