Warning: carcinogens found in Humboldt county's own products

ok so i goofed. i sent the email to humboldt nutrients who had this to say.....

Humboldt Nutrients does not manufacture any of the products you mentioned. Nor do we use any pgr's or hormones in our products.
The products You referenced are made by a company called "Humboldt county's own" and they do use pgr's in their products. They make most of their stuff out of a garage and sell it out of their retail store called" eel river Hydroponics." I would not recommend using anything they make.
Try our environmentally friendly product lines ( master a&b, ginormous, big up powder, etc.) Just to name a few.
Thanks,
Humboldt Nutrients
Ive emailed eel river. as it seems HCO dont have their own site which is odd

God Dammit, I asked about Gravity at my local hydro shop and was given a free sample with a slight warning that there has been speculation about this very issue. I know the owner and he wanted to get my feedback on it. I've fed it to my girls twice now and will be flushing the rest down the drain. Very, very dissapointing.

my hydro shop guy said to only worry about it if using as a foliar spray, ie, don't inhale gravity as is. He said if youre spraying it to wear a mask/respirator. He said it was safe to use on plants that we consume. I don't know what to think anymore.

Hi,

I was advised that eel river hydro was the retail outlet for humboldt county's own brand nutes and was wondering if you could advise me on some info I received recently.

I was advised that some of the HCO products you stock contain some pretty bad chemicals. Bushmaster having chlormequat chloride in it, and gravity containing paclobutrazol. I wonder if can confirm or deny this? i obviously don't want to be ingesting cancer causing chemicals.

If eel river is not related to HCO I would greatly appreciate a contact for anyone you may have at your supplier of their nutes.

thanks in advance

I understand and appreciate your concern. The HCO line of products is made by a previous co-owner of Eel River Hydroponics. The BushMaster and Gravity were issued stop-sell orders in California only. The issue was that the labels needed to be revised. There are no, I repeat NO, carcinogenic chemicals in any of our products and there has never been any carcinogenic chemicals in our products. A lot of info online is nothing but fairy tales and urban legends. Some of the stuff is put online by competitors. The way the fertilizer laws are written in California and some other states, we cannot name ingredients that are not on the label. That’s why most labels are bland and say nothing.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Can you elaborate further on the stop sell order please? I dont want to be a pest but i want to be absolutely clear in my own head. so there was a recall order for relabeling or a stop sell order meaning the stuff in the bottles cannot be resold with a new label. can you advise exactly what the revision was? i have a bottle of gravity and snowstorm i purchased from the states this year.

I also don't get the labeling law part. you say you cant name ingredients that are not on the label? in the uk we have to name absolutely everything that goes into a production the label. why would you have stuff in the product that isnt on the label? forgive my ignorance i'm just not sure why any company would have secret ingredients?

I appreciate you taking the time to explain these issues to me!

thanks

California law in these matters is rather vague and hard to understand until you have run-ins with the authorities. Sales were stopped because the state claims the label doesn’t conform to the regulations. They claim that one of the ingredients must be listed on the label. I had a meeting with the authorities on Thursday and showed them documentation that supports my claim that I can’t legally list it. Time will tell who is right. As far as ingredients are concerned, if I want to put an ingredient on the label then I have to submit data showing that it has some particular effect. Sometimes that’s not a good idea in this business. ;-)

yeaah i dont think this is all rumors and to be honest i am not really gonna take what the owner of the company says seriously. if he was honest then he would not be having this problem.

Has anybody sent some out for testing and figured out that ingredient?
and if so maybe we all have a class action law suit for the people who have used it?

Anyone who belives this... I have a dream to sell you
your an idiot this actually happened. here is ahwt a greners employee said when asked why these products were not in stock:
A short time ago, three of the most popular flower hardeners available were pulled from the market. As far as we can tell, Phosphoload, Flower Dragon and Gravity were all recalled due to their use of Coal Derived Humates or Paclobutrazol as plant growth regulators. Only permitted for ornamental plants, these products are presently unable to be sold as labeled. This began with a labeling dispute with the California Department of Agriculture and grew to a nationwide recall. BushMaster, which derives nearly the same chemicals from kelp, has recently been marked as not for sale in California, indicating it too may be very hard to get soon. At this time, we can drop-ship bushmaster to locations outside of CA, but can only do this as a special order item. If interested, drop us a line at service@greners.com and let us know the amount you want and we will let you know the shipping charges.

You mean the owner of the company didn't tell you to stop buying their products?!?!?
Shocking.

Call me whatever kind of bad name you want... but this all smells like bullshit. I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong... it just kinda stinks a bit to me. Mis-information is a very very powerful tool. You can change the world with it. (see 43rd president of the us)

I'm betting if every nute product out there were lab tested, they could probably claim some ingredient or another could cause cancer. You can also say that about artificial sweeteners and many other products most of us ingest daily. It's not like you're drinking the nutes, the plant takes them and processes them, so there shouldn't even be traces in the smoke. And smoke itself can cause cancer

There's some much bullshit on the internet, I take everything with a grain of salt
